Sleep Aid alternative to Ambien?

I had been taking ambien from time to time for insomnia, and I completely forgot to ask the doctor for any alternatives?  Is there any?  I believe Tylenol is ok to take, so how about Tylenol PM?

Re: Sleep Aid alternative to Ambien?

  • Tylenol PM is on my OBs list of approved medicines.

  • Tylenol PM and Benedryl are both OK to take according to all of the lists I have seen.

  • Thanks, I  figured because Tylenol was ok.  Did they give any limitations?  The bottle says 2 capsules?  I am going to call in the morning to get the results of my HCG levels I had drawn today, and I guess I can also ask them then.
  • I've read that you can take unisom.

  • I slowly starting weening myself off of Ambien , Lunesta etc when I knew I was TTC. I actually found that Tylenol Sleepytime did a better job then Tylenol PM. My OB also said that sleepytime was a little better, but he advised not to take it everynight if I could avoid it.
  • Unisom,by far is the best one out there. I feel much less groggy with it than I do with Ambien or Tylenol PM

  • I take Ambien too and my Dr. told me tht I could continue to take that sparingly (sp).  I just cut my dose in half.  Also, you can take benedryl, and tylenol pm.
