Gift ideas for the mom to be

Most of you are not used to men on this website, but I get my best ideas for my wife from these chat rooms.  My wife and I are expecting are first child on December 19th, "a girl".  I would like to purchase something very special for my wife the day our first child is born.  Does anybody have any suggestions?

Re: Gift ideas for the mom to be

  • That's sweet of you.  The one gift I cherish the most is the bracelet I have with my daughter's name on it.  I felt like I joined this exclusive club of mommyhood when I got it.  They make them with swarovski (sp?) crystals and some are gorgeous.  You could have one made with your daughter's name and birthstone.

  • I would suggest some kind of jewlery that has the babies birth stone and maybe mom's as well.

  • Hi best husband ever.

I got a name bracelet (almost like the medical bracelets) with the name on it and the date. But after reading PP... I like her idea better, it sounds so pretty.

And honestly? I think your wife is going to like anything you get her. It's such a sweet gesture.

I would have loved something like this! Maybe a right hand ring or something similar?

  • aww... brownie points coming your way from me :)

my DH is getting me a digital camera .. a really nice one.. so we can learn together to take some phenomenol photos of our new little one..

  • I am all for the whole jewelry with the birthstone.  Not sure your price range, but David Yurman has some beautiful stuff.  You are a sweet DH for looking for advice!
  • I agree with PPs that something with the baby's name and/or birthstone would be really nice!  You are such a wonderful husband...I'm sure this idea hasn't even crossed my husband's mind!
  • My husband has hinted that he's going to get me a piece of jewlery whent he baby is born.  I've asked him (if he does, which I'm pretty sure he will) to pick out a piece that I can wear now, but that we can give our baby (it's a girl!) when she's a teenager (16-18).  I like the idea of handing down a special piece of jewlery like that.  :)
