I plan to be off work for at least my 12 weeks and possibly considering staying home for several more months. However, I am a little bit prone to depression. I just worry that being home 24/7 and not having a lot of social interaction might set off my depression.
So in advance I am trying to think of things to do each week to keep busy. So far all I can think of is maybe a mom and baby excercise class of some sort?
Re: SAHM's - How do you keep from going stir crazy?
i make an effort to go out at least once everyday
Mon- gym
tues- meet with a friend
wed- gym
thurs- Kids in motion play group
friday - gym
Just an idea of what I do. Plus going to the grocery store, sometimes the park and sometimes just walking the mall. HTH!
Look into local playgroups and meetups (try meetup.com)
It's more for YOU when your baby is so young and when he/she gets older it's good social interaction for them too.
I do MOP's (Mother's of Preschoolers) twice a month. I've been trying to get better about taking DS to the local library storytime/lapsit too.
GL!!
ETA - I also do lunch with a GF at least once a week, even if she does not have children!!
This! Except I go swimming instead of the gym. I also make a list of things I'd like to get done during the week and just follow that.
I try to make sure I take DS out at least once a week, during the day. There isn't much I can do with him now (he's only 3.5 months old), but a trip to the grocery store counts as an outing! We like to go to the mall and walk around, too.
I live really close to the local library, and they have several programs for toddlers, but I can't find anything for mom/baby - looking forward to the things we can do when he gets a little older.
I take LO to a baby class at the library twice a week... it's a great place to meet other women and it's entertaining for the baby. Best of all, it's free.
You can also see if there's a MOPS group near you... (mothers of pre-school children)... not pre-school like 3-5, pre school like any kid before they hit school age... babies too.
Also, if you have the money to put your baby in a class, I've heard great things about gymboree and kindermusik.
