Today. I think my bump has doubled in size the last week and now none of my pants fit. I only bought one pair of maternity pants so far so I MUST go to GAP tonight and get some other things or I will have nothing to wear tomorrow.
Pants at around 12 weeks. I can still wear most pre-preg shirts and a few dresses but they are starting to creep up. I have a few maternity shirts, but they are really long. Growing by the day though. I live in Vegas so it's still in the 90s here. Trying to hold out until it gets cold to buy a few sweaters/long sleeve.
I feel ridiculous....11 weeks was when I switched to maternity work pants. I can still get away with some bottoms with the rubber band trick, but definitely cannot be anywhere near buttoned.
I started wearing the pants early on for comfort (bloat!!) at around 14 weeks or so. The shirts started getting too short around 20 weeks but some of them still work!
I've got a very short torso and apparantly the only place for baby to go in there is out. Not to mention that my boobs were popping buttons off my prepregnancy shirts pretty early on.
19 weeks with my first pregnancy. 16 weeks with this one.
Missed miscarriage discovered at 16 weeks on 10/11/10. Baby measuring 12 weeks. Natural miscarriage 10/12/10. We will miss you forever.
Chemical pregnancy on June 2012.
I can still fit into my pre-pregnancy pants with the bella band, but the maternity pants are just more comfy and there's less fidgiting with the band all day. Can still wear my pre-pregnancy shirts too, but only the longer ones that cover the panel or band
Can I ask those people that aren't wearing any maternity clothes at all....what your pre-pregnancy clothes are like? Were they all elastic band clothes, sweats and your husbands shirts?
I am really petite so all my clothes were size 2 or 4 before I was pregnant and my shirts were small or extra small. I can barely fit in them now and the ones I do fit in, I look like the incredible hulk about to bust out of his clothes! LOL
I never got the Bella Band...I just went straight to maternity clothes at 13 weeks. I couldn't take it anymore. I feel like I am doing something wrong because I shouldn't be showing at 13 weeks right for my first kid (I'm probably not...it's probably just weight gain and bloat) but some of you all are still not in maternity clothes and I am blown away! what's your secret?
I had a lot of flowy, empire waisted stuff before I got pregnant so I'm wearing all of those still... and my pre pregnancy jeans fit as long as I use my bella band (except the zippers sort of bug me when I sit down)
I've bought some maternity items out of pure comfort- but I really didn't need them until about week 23.
I had to get maternity pants around week 12 and have been adding tops in the past couple of weeks. I couldn't wear my usual pants very early on but some of my tops still fit (fewer and fewer every day). I try to get tops that don't look maternity or aren't (and just long or don't have closures), so that I can wear them later.
I'm also petite and was size 4/6 before. But I think the major factor for getting maternity clothes so early is that my bump is sticking straight out, so the expansion hasn't been very even.
I have a couple pairs of maternity pants (the no-band style) but while they fit in the hips/butt they are still too big in the waist (and I'm not a real small chickie either - size 10-12 --- ok size 12-14 after taking fertility drugs for months ugh ). I bought a couple pairs of very low-rise jeans and that's what I'm in now. And I bought a few size L mon-maternity shirts that are kinda long that I should be able to wear for quite a while. Everything maternity is just too big and looks silly, but I was uncomfortable in most of my 'regular' clothes.
During weeks 8-12 I was absolutely living in these cotton knit ankle-length spagetti strap dresses (with a Tshirt underneith) that I got at Target. They have elastic across the back so while my ribs and boobs expanded they fit just fine. And they are empire waist so there was nothing around my belly while I was having a lot of cramping. I should be able to wear them until my bump is pretty big - right now it's just giggly fat and internal organs smoosched upwards. yuck
I'm 17w3d and haven't worn any yet. For work, pants are getting a little tight, though, and suits are an issue. I can wear my skirt suits still but some of the pantsuit bottoms are too tight. I've compensated by unzipping slightly and wearing an empire waist slip/blouse over the pants. Most skirts/dresses are still totally fine. I haven't told at work yet either, so I'm also trying to hide it until I'm at least 20 weeks.

I wear a lot of banded v-neck shirts that are not skin tight and tshirts, and I still wear all of my pre-preg jeans and shorts. I'll admit it's getting to where cloth shorts are so comfortable. But at this point nobody can tell I'm pregnant even in a bikini, so I'm just waiting for my belly to pop.
I started wearing mat pants around 12 weeks and was exclusively wearing them around 16w. I didn't try using a bella band though.
I'm 50/50 wearing mat shirts. The main reason for wearing them is that they're long enough to cover the mat pants! Certainly don't need the mat shirt for my belly which isn't much
I just got my first couple of things last weekend. I got a pair of jeans because even though one pair of mine still fits I was uncomfortable in them and they looked horrible. I love my new maternity jeans they are super cute and comfy and they don't even look like maternity. I go them at old navy. I also got a couple of tops. Most of my pre-preg shirts still fit but the are tight in the boobs it's nice to have comfy clothes. I can still wear most of my pre skirts and they still look nice just not pants
Re: At what week did you NEED maternity clothes?
18.
And two weeks ago I put away all of my pre-pregnancy clothes and my closet is so sad now.
good thing I'm allowed to shop :-)
I can wear most of my pp shirts, but I have worn a few of my maternity shirts.

I still don't need maternity clothing.
In fact, I wore my mat jeans for the first time yesterday. I also own one maternity t-shirt.
Pants - about 12 weeks
Tops - 14 weeks

Around 22.

Still waiting...21 weeks.
