When to schedule appt. with ob?

I think I will see the RE for a few more weeks.  I have my first ultrasound with the RE in two weeks and they said they will continue to see me until I can get into the OB.  Do I need to be finding an OB and making that appointment now or should I wait until my first ultrasound?  And do you tell the OB that you are currently seeing an RE?  Thanks!

Re: When to schedule appt. with ob?

  • Most OB's wont see you until you are around 8-10 weeks. It worked out perfect in my case because I was released from my RE at 9 weeks 2 days, and had my first appt. with my OB a few days later.

I would wait unitl your first u/s then call to make your appt. and yes, I would tell them that you are currently seeing an RE and that you will have them send your records before your first appt.

  • 2 weeks before my last appt. my RE had an OB to refer me to (i was just seeing a GP before he referred me to my RE). i called them and got in fairly early, i thought b/c it was w/in 3 weeks (my OB back in NC was at least a month out w/appts.).

my last appt. w/my RE was at 10w2d and it was bittersweet. i was thrilled to be moving into the normal/regular world, but sad to be leaving the group that had worked so hard to help me get pg.

    my 1st appt. w/OB was at 10w6d.
