Grocery Express Pick-up

So I've been considering signing up for our grocery store's "express pick-up" for after Baby's born... basically, for an extra $7 (or $25 for a month) to shop online for your groceries, then just pull up to the "pick-up" window and have someone load them in your car for you.

You think it'd be worth it to avoid bringing a newborn out in the cold (due in Nov) and through a grocery store for the first month or two?

Re: Grocery Express Pick-up

  • Sounds worth it to me!  I'm planning on doing online grocery shopping after LO is born (especially since delivery on the first order is free).

  • I wouldn't, especially if I am buying fresh produce. I doubt that the person bagging my groceries would go out of their way to choose the nicest looking produce.

Ooooh... good point.  I hadn't thought of that.  I may have to re-think this.

  • My first thought is couldn't you or DH stay home LO for the first month or two while the other person runs to the grochery store?  Secondly, if thats not possible you could still consider doing the express pick-up and not order fresh produce, then maybe send dh out for quick stop to pick up the fresh produce you need.  Also, just wondering how much fresh produce you are buying in the middle of winter, maybe it wouldn't even be an issue!

  • Not sure where you live, but there are alot of supermarkets in our area (NYC) that deliver groceries for you.  You just pick it out online, and they give you a pick up time & deliver it for 5 bucks.  I never had a problem with the produce (and am pretty picky about it..) but I complained once that I was unhappy with the pack of chicken cutlets they sent me, and they gave me credit for it, no questions asked.  Maybe they have that where you are? I know Stop N Shop does it........
