  • DH has 1 week paid paternity leave. If I have a repeat c/s, I will be in the hospital for 4-5 days so he will only be home with me for a few days before he has to go back :(

  • I think DH is planning on about 2 weeks.

  • DH has 2 weeks... including the stay at the hospital.
  • My DH is taking 2 weeks off, then working from home for 1-2 weeks.
  • i'm due the day after thanksgiving, and FI is leaving to go back to work for 3 months the day after christmas... so if all goes as planned, roughly 1 month :)
  • DH is taking a week off.

Then he'll take a day here and there throughout my maternity leave, which is 12 weeks.

  • Mine is taking 2-3 weeks...whatever his boss will allow really. It also depends on when I go and what complications come up. Some of that is going to be up in the air.

  • Probably a week?  It really depends on how busy they are at that time.  Also, his mom and dad are coming from out of town shortly after LO arrives, so in the event that they don't come here for a week, he'll probably take a few days while they are here too.

  • My DH is taking 2 weeks off when I have her and 4 weeks when I go back to work.
  • Probably about a week, so long as everything goes well.

  • I really only expected DH to stay 3 - 5 days, but when I asked him about it the other day he said he had been setting expectations at work that he would be out for 2 - 4 weeks.  You could have knocked me over with a feather!  This is nothing against DH.  He's just has a pretty high profile job and he's working on huge project that requires a lot of attention at the moment.  We both know that family comes first.  That's our priority, but I didn't mind him going back to work quickly because I think I'll be able to handle it and I knew that I really needed him I had no doubt he would stay home to help out.
  • My DH is taking at least 3 weeks (that is how much time he has paid for leave) but may go up to 6 depending on how my sales go the next 2 months before the baby gets here... He is a trucker so he is gone for sometimes a week at a time so this will be a huge deal to have him home with us for that long! Smile

    Same here!

  • A couple of days. Our nanny has already started. His mom and my mom will be helping as well.
  • Wow I'm really jealous of all of you.  My DH is hoping to get the day of delivery off, the rest of the hospital stay however long that is, and one day at home.  Boo.
  • It depends.  If the project he is working on isn't finished yet, he'll be working from home for 2 weeks, with maybe one extra week depending on how close to Christmas it is.  If the project is done, then he'll be home for a month!!

  • This is my fourth and dh has NEVER taken even a day off.  With my first three I had no help either.  DH owns a business so he never takes off!
  • My DH is going to take 3 weeks. I might send him back to work early if he starts to drive me crazy before then, but I have a feeling I will be very grateful to have him around for that time!
  • since I only have 6 weeks maternity he will take 2 weeks off after I have to go back work to stay home with her.  He will initially take a few days off when we have her.
  • After Friday, DH is home for 8 weeks. Smile

  • He is taking 2 weeks, and then the week of Christmas, so it could end up being 3 weeks depending when I deliver.

  • In the Navy, fathers get 10 days of leave, but for married sailors only (usually). It is up to their CO, so we are hoping that he gets the green light and can be off with us during that time because he has been working a lot more than normally scheduled and because he is the shop supervisor. Crossing our fingers and toes cause he only has 1 day of regular leave on the books for now...
  • My DH is taking 12 weeks off (same as me). We work for the same company and our company offers 12 weeks paid parental leave whether you're the mother or father. I'm very lucky to have him home with me the entire time. I'm excited that he'll be able to bond more with our LO more than if he had to go back to work. I know this isn't the norm though.
  • One week. He wont be getting paid or he would take more time off.
  • 2 weeks - that is how long he gets paid. He could take more, but we don't want to lose the paycheck.
  • same here - i'm really jealous of the other situations that will allow their SO to stay home.  We have so much going on and hopefully, she'll come the day before THanksgiving so we can have as much time as possible, but let's be honest, I'm sure she'll stay in there as long as she can. :)
  • 4 or 5 weeks. He gets 3 weeks paternity leave, and will take maybe 1 or 2 vacation weeks (he gets about 8 weeks a year).

  • DH is self-employed, so he's really only taking a couple of days - there's no pay if he doesn't work!
  • None. He's self-employed and works from home.

  • Dh is taking two weeks. One week paid paternity leave one week of his vacation time. Then he will take a week off during Christmas :)

  • I'm thinking he will spend the night in the hospital with me then go right back to work.  He doesn't have vacation time really, and we need the money.  My mom will be there to help me though.
  • My DH will be taking one week off and then working from home for one week. Then, he'll take a day or two off when I go back to work to help with the transition.

  • 5 weeks!!!  3 weeks paternity leave + 2 weeks vacation.  We are so fortunate that his company is this generous!

  • One week, but he works very close to home and can work a flex schedule so that he is home more when the LO arrives. I will probably take about 8 weeks off.
  • probably just a few days. :(  he's an attorney and unfortunately works like crazy!

but he will be working a little from home so he won't be working such long hours at his office.  my mom and grandmother live about 80 miles away and can both come and stay as long as I want or need them too.

  • Not really sure yet.  I think we are just going to play it by ear.  I wanted him to be home with me for at least 3 weeks but after that, I will leave it up to him.  He might work from home for a while.
