Advice for new dads (funny)

I was reading some "tips" for new dads online. I read this one to DH and had a laugh about the part in bold:

"Take the break you need to get out. Have that beer, get a good work out in or just do something that you love to do with your friends. You have to stay strong and stay sane through out this process or no one wins. Nature can be very calming and stress relieving as well. Just taking a walk, breathing, and looking at nature can help reduce your stress and might actually be healthier than having a beer. But yes, I did recommend going out for a beer. (That by the way so doesn?t mean go out and get wasted and be worthless the next day.) But go out and blow off some steam with guys you trust. Ideally, friends who have had young kids and can relate to what you are going through. Celebrate a little. Gently remind your wife that her day will come where she will get to go out and breathe with her friends. Write her a cute note or make a coupon that she can redeem for a night when she is ready, while you stay home with the little one. Know that she wants to see you happy just as much as you want her to be happy. No one wants a stressed out husband. Get out and have fun, but be respectful of yourself and of her feelings"

Yeah, pretty sure I won't be too happy if he comes over to a tired, stressed out me, hands me a coupon for a night out (while I'm BFing) and says, "I'm heading to the bar."

DH added: "and to help your wife out, provide her with a menu of dinner choices that you would like to have. It will cut down on her stress of having to think about what you want for dinner that night, plus it will save you the energy of having to berate her for making the wrong dinner."

  • Loading the player...
  • too funny.  i especially like the part your DH added.  we just had a blowout about meal selection the other day.  he never helps decide and when he does,  he selects really long and difficult meals.

  • This is awesome! I think I would definitely smack my DH if he handed me a coupon for a boy's night out.

  • if my Dh did this I would jump for joy!!! he goes out ALL the time, but because I am a SAHW and soon to be SAHM- he doesn't think I deserve a night out with my friends...

and if actually told me what he wanted me to cook I would again JUMP FOR JOY- I think in the two + years we have been married he has suggested dinner 10 times- but has complained about what I made MANY MANY more times than that...
