how do you make spaghetti?

I'm tired of my plain old thing. What are your recipes?

  • i don't have a receipe but have you tried adding mushrooms to the sauce.  or have you had garlic spagehetti (no sauce) - that stuff is amazing!

  • I have never heard of garlic spaghetti. I use mushrooms and diced tomatos in mine.

  • you make these ginormous meatballs with all kinds of fun stuff in them and you boil the spagehetti, and then make a butter sauce with garlic in it ( a little goes a long way).  my aunt used to make it for us when we had overnights.  it is so good, i can post the receipe later tonight if you want it.

  • Here's a recipe from my folks and the sauce is great. 

    1-2.5 lbs ground beef (depending on how "meaty" you like it, you may want more or less)
    1/2 cup diced onion
    2 tbspn olive oil
    6 cloves fresh garlic (I always add less and use the preminced and eyeball it -- if you like it garlicky like my dad, add the full 6.  Otherwise cut back)
    4 1lb cans diced tomatoes (you can use fresh -- you can also puree all or part.  Depends on how chunky you like your sauce)
    2 8 oz cans seasoned tomato sauce
    1 3oz can broiled mushrooms (I usually sub fresh mushrooms)
    1/4 cup chopped italian parsley
    1 1/2 tsp oregano
    1 tspn salt
    2 pinches thyme
    1 bay leaf
    1 large can tomato paste
    1-2 cup water, as needed.

    Cook onion in oil until tender and then add meat and garlic until meat is browned.  Add remaining ingredients.  Simmer uncovered for 2-2.5 hrs, stirring occasionally.  Remove bay leaf and serve over pasta.

  • I add ground beef and sausage to my sauce. 
  • I use Ragu Tomato, Garlic & Onion spaghetti sauce, add 1 lb of ground beef and simmer. So Delish...tastes like it's been cooking all day.
  • I take a pint of grape tomatoes-EVOO, salt and pepper and roast at 425 for about 10 min..toss with angel hair, fresh basil and some cubes of fresh mozz or shaved parm....and maybe a smidge more of EVOO....DELISH!!
