coworker vent/appalling HR related Behavior

a little background is our company is small and the HR woman (in her late 40's) is known for being a big mouth,

 Anyway back when I had my m/c in December I did not tell anyone but my immediate manager.

Friday I was at lunch with all the girls and we were discussing how the HR woman spreads rumors and is inappropiate.  Then one of the girls said yeah like what she told everyone about C (being myself).  Of course I'm like what did she say??????

They didn't want to tell me at first but then they finally spilled that she told everyone about my m/c.  It wasn't when it happened out of concern or to get me flowers or see how I was doing.

It happened when I announced this pregnancy at 4 months, the girls were excited and talking about it and she threw it in there kind of like a "don't get so excited sort of deal".

I'm not sorry that the girls know and I wasn't trying to keep it a secret as I'm not ashamed, but I am appalled that she would do that, as it's not a piece of juicy gossip.  If she had done it out of concern I could understand, but they said she was like gloating about it!!!  They were like okay...... and think she is horrible but really wanted me to know they knew.

(I asked my boss and she said she had to the tell the HR woman so I wouldn't be docked for my time off, which makes sense) 

 

I am soooo glad I am not coming back here!!!

    She sounds like a real POS. I'd make sure you mention this in your exit interview.

    My manager said she would say something to our COO, she was shocked by this as well. I don't want to raise a big issue only because I don't want it to come back down on the girls that told me, because they still have to work with this woman. 

    I did want to smack her though, good thing she wasn't there on Friday.

    That is appalling. I would be so pissed.  I hope there's some way you can let someone know who can do something about it.... she should not be in HR.  BTW, your puppy is SOOOOO friggin cute!

    I know it is a small company but I would want to make sure this doesn't happen to other people. The only way to do that it to make sure there is an official reprimand. It sucks but the reason people like your HR person gets away with breaking confidentiality is because nice people like us don't put our foot down.

    Honestly, I believe that there is some sort of confidentiality law/rule that she broke by "gossiping" about it.  If she's saying that kind of stuff about you then who knows what else she's saying about someone else.  She really needs to watch herself or else she could really get into trouble!!
