Not trying to be snarky, but about the religion post

I can honestly say that there is nothing (religion, politics, personal beliefs) that I actually agree with ALL the teachings of.

Re: Not trying to be snarky, but about the religion post

  • Agreed... and I think that's pretty normal.  Or maybe we're abnormal?  I'm okay with that, though!  ;)

  • I can understand that, I DO believe the bible is 100% from God, I don't agree with all of it, I have a hard time with parts of it.
  • That's why I'm a DruidBuddhistAmericanIndian.  With a little Judaism thrown in for fun.  lol

A lot of them look good in theory.  Get people involved and we screw it all up completely.

  • I could not agree more.

  • I think that's very common & pretty much the thing most people would say...it accentuates how smart, open minded & independent you are. ;oP

  • I'm with you.  It's why I don't follow an organized religion and will not follow a political party and vote based on individual candidates (although I'll admit that they usually are with one specific party).

    This

  • true, but it does bother me when people call themselves something, when they truly aren't.  Like my DH who calls himself Catholic (just because he was baptized and believes in God), but doesn't do anything else that he's "supposed" to do like go to church, confession, etc.. I just don't think you can pick and choose whatever you like and still consider yourself practicing. Not believing 100% in ALL the teaching is one thing, but I think picking and choosing which rules you do and don't want to follow disqualifies you.

  • yep...I think there are as many religions as there are people in the world.

  • I didn't see the OP (just got here), but I agree w/ you. ?No matter how I identify myself (democrat, Jew, etc), there are always going to be elements of it that I don't agree with.
  • i'm of the belief that there are as many "religions" as there are people - because not one person can believe EVERYTHING that a religion states... everyone has their own belief system, even if they are part of organized religion and call themselves one denomenation or another.

I'm Lutheran, but do not agree with all Lutheran teachings 100%... it's just one of the organized religions that comes close to what I beleieve- and i like the church we go to :)
