Pregnant after 35

I feel like somehow has taken a baseball bat to my crotch

I mean if I was 9 months pg then I would think it was the baby trying to push her way out.  I'm not even close but main it aches like crazy!!

I'm assuming this is normal?

  • Not sure. I know there's a lot of blood flow down there right now.

And I got really sore after sex last night. Which was crazy, b/c it was like the gentlest sex ever. I put it to DH this way: right now, all sex feels like rough sex Surprise

  • You mean your hips or the crotch area specifically?  There is certainly the ligaments that have to stretch and change in order to accommodate baby as you grow...do you mean the ligaments?

  • It's hard to describe.  I feel like my baby is trying to pounding on me trying to push her way out.  I know that's not what is happening though.

Not my hips, my actual crotch.

  • Shannon.. .how do I ask this delicately????

Do you have "skinny" hips or "birthin'" hips?   I would suspect if you're a skinny girl, you're probably starting to spread out and that would be in that general region, ya know?

HAHAHA!!  Just for future ref you don't ever have to be delicate with me.  Wink

Nope, I'm not a skinny girl.  Stick out tongue

It's just a weird feeling.  It's like having aches from the flu, just in that region. I know that makes NO sense.  I started feeling it last night and am sure it's just one of the joys of pregnancy.

LOL that you are worried about being delicate in a post with "crotch" in the title.

  • I so remember this feeling from my first pregnancy so I guess it must be somewhat normal.  I always assumed it was due to what the pp mentioned, my hips/pelvic area spreading out.  I also got the same achy feeling in my hips so that it was so painful to sleep on my side at night, I was constantly flopping from one side to the other because the pressure was insane.  I've always been average weight but have pretty narrow hips so don't know if that makes a difference...  on a side note, one bonus of my after pregnancy body was that I finally got hips. Big Smile

  • I was totally achy.  I'm not sure if it fades, or if you just get used to it, but it felt better after a while.

  • i experienced that sensation early in my pregnancy as well ... and continue to feel it regularly. since i'm 40 and this is my first my dr. put me on limited activity w/ very minimal walking, because in the beginning it always felt worse after walking. since the baby has grown though, the sensation is pretty constant. have your dr. check your cervix length, make sure it's ok. mine is on  the low normal side @ 3.2. if you need to, get a second opinion from a perinatologist. better to be safe than sorry.

    good luck!

  • I remember this pain from DD that someone on the Nest termed "lightening crotch". Sort of a sharp, pain, but it doesn't last long (just long enough for you to suck in your breath and think "Oh Sh!!t"). Not sure what it is related to pressure or hips spreading, but I've had it a couple of times already this time around.
