NBR: ? for College Football Fanatics!

Have you ever been to ESPN's College GameDay?  GameDay is going to be in Austin this weekend and I'm trying to decide if I want to take our boys!  I'm a crazy football fan and it would be a huge thing for me to take them to something like this (very important to their football training), but I don't know how hectic it will be.  I wouldn't be pushing to the front of the crowd or anything, but I want to get an idea of the mayhem. We'll probably just put them in the bjorns to avoid a stroller.  Am I insane to even consider this?

  • They were here in Nebraska last year and DH and I considered going but ended up not being able to. The pics that they showed from the stadium while they were there, were not really that bad. They group everyone around so that it looks really crazy and crowded on TV. I would think it would be ok.

  • It may depend on the kind of crowd your college team brings in. For the University of Iowa it gets really rowdy. I couldn't take my kiddo.

  • Hmmmm, good point Mrs. Reem.  We're Longhorns and we're playing Texas Tech.  I've been to a UT v. Tech game in Lubbock and it was total insanity.  Insanity to the point where it was a little scary and I was only 21 then! (and bolstered by several libations...)  Maybe the fact that it's 9 in the morning will help...  I'm so torn!

  • I have been to game day. It really depends on how close you want to get and if you want to be on camera. People closer to the set get a little crazy when they are recording trying to get their 30 seconds of fame. So an inadvertent elbow may fly your way. If you do take them the Bjorns would definitely be a better choice then the stroller. If you think they will be ok and don't really care about camera time, I think you will be fine. Have fun!

  • I think if you stay on the fringe of the crowd you'll be OK. I would not try to bring them into the front where all the crazy rabid fans are, but I'm sure that wasn't your plan anyway. I got my pic taken with Kirk Herbstreit a few years ago. LOVE him!!
  • We've been a couple of times.  I think you will be ok if you don't try to get right up to the front.  Try to stay back a little and I think you'll be good to go!  Have fun!!!

  • I was at the PSU vs Ohio a few years ago...it can get crazy, but really only if you are up the front.  Most often it is set up so you can kinda be on the outskirts.  But I certainly wouldn't want to be in the middle or front of the area they have set up with 2 little ones.
  • No, you're not insane.  I think you could go, you just won't be in the middle of all the crazy fans.  You will be on the outside but you can take lots of pictures and stuff.  I think it's a great idea!!!
  • You've convinced me!  We're totally going.  I'm SO excited.  It brings a tear to my eye to think of their first Game Day.

    And yummmmmmm Kirk Herbstreit!
