Re: ***Shamrock Sweeties Wednesday Check-in***

  • I'm not planning on getting either the seasonal or H1N1 vaccine. I asked my midwife about this last night, in fact. She's not totally on board with the safety of the H1N1. She encourages me to eat right, get enough sleep and stay away from sick people. I've never had a flu shot before, and I didn't really want to get these, so for now the plan is to NOT get either shot. if someone in the office gets sick, I'll just work from home if I'm really concerned and they still come in. If not, I'll just stay in my own office.

  • This is my first post in second tri!  YAY

I felt the baby move for the first time on Sunday!  I've missed that feeling.  It's great being that this is my second time around that I KNOW what it feels like and that it really was the baby.  I have also felt it at least once a day since!

QOTD: I am still trying to decide what to do about the shots...

  • I do not plan on getting either.  I don't work so I'm not really out and about much.  If I go shopping...I go an hour before the mall closes or to Wal-Mart around 2am...alot less people to deal with.  My dr has been on maternity leave, so I've been seeing a 'fill in' dr.  She is coming back in Oct, so I will ask her at my next appt on the 9th...which will also be our "BIG" u/s!!

Feeling great...moving 4 hours away to our new home next Thursday!!

  • I am probably not getting either. I don't work at all. I have no other kids and I rarely leave the house due to morning sickness. MY DH doesn't trust the H1N1 shot either. I am just going to wait and see how the winter is here and determine if I need to get any if at all vaccines.
  • My OB recommended both for my individual case and I trust her opinion. My husband will also be receiving the vaccine because he is a doctor at a local hospital. I can't say that I am not concerned with the possible risks of the   H1N1 vaccine, but because I work with over a hundred kids everyday from several different school systems, I am at an increased risk for exposure. Last year there were 6 confirmed cases at my studio and several cases that were suspicious. I will be bringing up my concerns again when I have my appt. at the end of the month.
  • Good Afternoon all, I hope everyone is doing well.  I am doing good, feeling much better in the 2nd tri than I did in the first, MS is a B**ch.

QOTD: I plan on getting both the regular and H1N1.  My work gives the regular one out for free the first week in October every year, I talked to my Doc, and they recommend getting both done so that is what I am doing.

  • QOTD:  Will you be getting the seasonal flu vaccine?  No, not unless I get sick.

Will you be getting the H1N1 flu vaccine?  No

What has your doctor said about both? Dr. is making no recommendations on the H1N1 at this time and that seasonal is okay.

I am not sure.  I will talk to my doctor about this soon, but traditionally I have been against getting the flu shot becuase it is just a shot in the dark.  But if she recommends it, then I am sure I will get it.

  • QOTD:  Will you be getting the seasonal flu vaccine?  Will you be getting the H1N1 flu vaccine?  What has your doctor said about both?

I'd like to get both once they become available. My company is pretty good about offering flu shots, and I informed our HR person that I am pregnant (in case that would bump me to the top of a list for those able to get the h1b1 shot). I haven't talked to my doctor yet, but will at my  next apt on Oct 2. A friend already got her regular flu shot, so might even be able to get that done while I'm there. We'll see.

  • Hello. I will be joining most of you over on 2nd Tri very soon, cannot wait!!

My doctor recommends both vaccines. I most likely will at least get the seasonal flu vaccine and depending on availability of the H1N1, I will decide then.

  • I will not be getting either, and I didn't get the flu one with DS.  I've never gotten a flu vaccine.  My dr never said anything with DS and she said pregnant women should get them at my last appt after I asked.

This is my plan for now.  My OB recommends both, but I'm not sure I'll get either one.

  • Hello everyone!  Hope it's a good day for all.  I'm still having minor issues with thinking the worst.  We elected not to do the NT scan and my doc did not check for a hb at my 11w3d appt (bc he said LO was too small).   I'm just having a hard time with it.  I think it's because of all the posts about missed m/c and such.  I'm just scared.  4 weeks is just such a long time in between appts right now.  I see my OB again on 9/28 and am so scared that he won't find a hb...  I'm still having symptoms and my lower abd is getting a hard little bump, but with my weight loss, I'm not showing at all (I'm plus sized anyway).  Is anyone else feeling this way?

QOTD:  Will you be getting the seasonal flu vaccine?  Will you be getting the H1N1 flu vaccine?  What has your doctor said about both?

I will be getting the seasonal flu vaccine and most likely the H1N1 vaccine as well.  I plan to check with my OB at my next appt to make sure I can go ahead with the seasonal vaccine.  I'm a nurse, and they have already started vaccinating at work.  H1N1 vaccines aren't in yet, so if my OB's office can't get them, I will get that from work as well.

  • I'm getting both.  Little irritated with my agency, since they just said today they are not offering the flu vaccine this year, unlike the past.

  • Can you add me to the list please?

Yes, I'll be getting both shots.

  • I not doing either one. My Dr. told me that it is my body and agreed that there isn't extensive testing for the H1N1.
  • I will not be getting either. I have an appointment next week but I highly doubt they will persuade me.

  • I plan on getting both.  I teach and we've had cases of the regular flu and H1N1 already at school.

  • Yes and Yes.  My Dr. recommends both.  He has a patient right now in the hospital, she has the H1N1 and is 36 weeks pregnant.  He says it is VERY serious.

  • I will be getting the Flu shot, I do every year.  I dont think I am going to get the H1N1.  I havent talked to my Dr about it yet.

  • Yes to the normal flu shot. ?No to the H1N1.
  • I'm getting both.  I was at the OB last week Friday and asked what she thought.  Given that I work in a school, I am likely to be exposed to all sorts of ickiness.  She feels both are safe and ACOG (American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists) is recommending both.  I trust her on this more than I trust Internet fear-mongering.

  • I will be receiving both.  My OB recommends both.  I'm also in healthcare so this factored into it, as well.
  • Hi Ladies!  Hope that you are all feeling well!

Will you be getting the seasonal flu vaccine? Not sure, I got sick the last time. Will you be getting the H1N1 flu vaccine?  Not sure  What has your doctor said about both?  Going to talk to Dr about both of these at appt next week.

  • I had an appointment just today and the office is recommending both.
  • Hi Ladies! Dreading tonight cuz I have to go to dinner with DH and MIL.  She just drives me crazy and is always laying guilt trips on me.  Anyways on to QOTD: I will get the seasonal flu vaccine but I am not planning on getting the H1N1.  My doctor hasn't discussed them with me but my next appt. is tomorrow so I am going to bring it up if she doesn't.  Have a good evening!

  • Seasonal flu: maybe

    H1N1: NO WAY!

Dr. says: H1N1 has not been tested or approved for pregnant women.  It would be unethical for her to give advice regarding a vaccine that hasn't even gone through clinical trials yet.  She will give her recommendation once clinical trials are completed and it is approved.

Update: I have been doing better.  I've had IV fluids and a Zofran pump going 24/7 for aver a week now.  The IV's have been an issue because my veins are too weak due to the extreme dehydration and low food intake.  My dr. is hoping to get a PICC line placed on me tomorrow so that I won't keep blowing my veins out every day or two from the IV's.  Wish me luck!

  • QOTD: I am actually going to be discussing both these options with my midwife at my 16 week appointment on the 30th.

  • I got my flu shot earlier this week. My arm was sore a day or two but no biggie. I haven't asked my doctor about getting the H1N1 but I assume they would support me getting it.  I have an appointment next week and plan on asking.  I actually found out today my local hospital (and place of employment) was one of the hospitals for the pregnant women H1N1 trial vaccine, darn why didn't anyone tell me?!  I don't know if thats over or what but I think I would get it.

  • I got my seasonal flu shot this week.  I will most likely get the H1N1 shot when it's available.  I am a nurse and definitely get exposed to way too many "cooties".
  • I haven't checked-in in weeks! Yikes!   My EDD is March 19th but I am listed as March 18th. Doesn't really matter, but if anyone feels like changing it....

As for the flu shots - yes to both. I asked my doc and since I'm a teacher she is definitely recommending both of them for me when they are available.  We are doing all sorts of crazy H1N1 precautions at school - practically bathing the children in soap and hand sanitizer - it's ridiculous really.

  • At first I didn't want to get either of them. But my Dr. and my mom who is an OB nurse said I should get the flu shot. They strongly suggest it. I asked about H1N1 and both said, first it won't be available for a mont or so and it is really not as necessary as everyone is making it out to be.

  • Um well I am thinking about getting the normal flu vaccine but not the H1N1.
