I saw a post on 0-6 mths yesterday and they were saying that BF'ing is hard and painful for about 7 weeks! WTH? I thought I had read somewhere that only the first 2 weeks were hard and painful.

7 weeks seems like a stretch. I'm not gonna lie it hurts when they first latch on till the nipples toughen up a bit but it passes and the joy I got out of doing it definitely outweighed the difficulty, the main thing is to push through and get to the other side before giving up!
I am REALLY apprehensive about breastfeeding - not so much the pain as just being very afraid that my milk won't come in/I won't have enough milk/ my baby won't latch right / etc. etc. etc.!
This is my first pregnancy so I can't say anything from experience, but I will say that I've heard from friends and family that bf-ing is made so much harder by putting a lot of pressure on yourself and worrying too much.
For me, with DS it hurt for about 3 weeks or so but the first 6 weeks were kind of tough because I felt like a milk machine and attached to the baby 24/7. However, I went on to exclusively BF for 101/2 months and it got much easier after the first two months.
