My mom had mine done when I was 4 weeks old. She just wanted to have them done I guess. I havne't had my DD's done yet. I'm not sure when or if I will.
This is why I'm doing it Thursday!! Mainly because when they are older, they will know they are there and pull them / touch them. If you do it young enough, they will never know they are there. And I'm sick of everyone asking if she's a boy. We have the pink Chicco Cortina travel system...she wears pink, bows in her hair, etc and people still think she's a boy...especially when I say her name is Camryn!!

your DD and i have the same name!! awesome!!! and she'll get that her whole life... "you have a boys name!"
We have friends who got their DD's ears pierced because people kept calling her "he". She didn't have a lot of hair, and the dad kept getting annoyed with people thinking his daughter was a boy.
My mom pierced my ears when I was 4 weeks too, then they closed up and I remember the ice and the blackened needle and the POP and pain when she did it again when I was 5 yrs old. Now I have perm holes and my ears swell when I put ANY metal or plastic in my ears.
I am going to have my DD have that decision herself when she gets older if she wants them. Which she might do.

Because I think it looks adorable and it's easy to care for. We plan on doing it when DD is 6 months old. What are the reasons for not doing it? If they don't like it they can always take them out when they're older...
I had mine done (well my mom did) the day I was born, I'm from Venezuela and it is a part of our culture, besides the fact it's easy to take care of them at this age, it's painless, and it looks so cute! I'm getting DD's pearced next month when I go to Venezuela so get ready to see my gorgeus DD with adorable earings!
Re: I`m not flaming, I`m just curious...
My mom's reasons-
1. So people would stop asking if I was a boy.
2. Because I wouldn't remember it.
3. She thought it was pretty.

because of their culture and because it won't hurt them as much as if you do it later on in life...Mine were pierced at 2 months
Its a cultural thing....

My guess is the same reason why people dress up baby girls in poofy dresses and bows. They think it's cute...plus they won't remember.
They are the parent....others shouldn't judge.
For some, not for everyone who does it.
