STTN: 5 hrs??

i've heard people say this on here....

my little guy sleeps a 5-hr stretch at the beginning of the night from 7:30pm bedtime til 12:30am when he gets up to eat. after that he still eats every 3 hrs (so up again at 3:30, then up for the day at 6:30).  that is not STTN, right??

i'll consider him STTN when we put him down at 7:30pm and he doesn't get up til at least 5:30am!

Re: STTN: 5 hrs??

  • I believe 5 hours straight through the night is considered STTN.

P.S.  This is how DD started STTN.  She'd sleep for 5 hours and then wake every three hours.  Eventually those 5 hours became 6, then 7 and now she's STTN 10 hours!

  • I considered it STTN when I was getting 5 straight hours.

yes, i think once he sleeps 5 hrs while i'm sleeping i'll be happy with that. unless we went to bed at 7:30 when he did, that won't happen right now. i just can't call it STTN when his long stretch ends around midnight soon after we get to bed!

  • I don't consider it sttn unless I get to sttn. :)
  • I think most moms have their own idea of what STTN means to them. But yeah, technically it's 5 hours. DS2 has had 5 hour stretches on most nights but I don't feel like it's STTN.

  • I never considered 5 hours to be STTN either. DD sleeps from 8:30-1:30am, eats and then wakes up every 3 hours after that. Maybe when she sleeps until 6:00am, then i will say she STTN. So I agree with you.
