I'm due in March with my first baby. Shortly after the baby is born, he/she and I will be traveling overseas to meet DH while he's getting his Master's Degree. We'll be spending about 3 months in India and 3 months in the UAE. We'll be flying of course. I'm trying to figure out what I should buy in the way of accessories. What's absolutely necessary? What's easy to travel with? I'm toying with not buying a stroller because I'm a little paranoid about my baby being kidnapped overseas. If I just wear him/her, I think I'll feel more comfortable.
Anyway, knowing what you know now about being a new mom, what should I get?
Re: Need some advice
I didn't fly overseas but I did fly when LO was about 2 months. If you do take a stroller I would get a snap and go so you can have the car seat with you. I wouldn't want to check it because I would be afraid it would be damaged. You could also bring a sling so you could wear the baby when you are in any areas you are not confortable with.
I would recommend if your husband is there having him look for used baby items for when you get there. I would recommend a bouncer and a travel bed at least. There is a lot more that would be nice to haves but that would get you by.
I would definitely get a baby carrier like a bjorn or something.
Also, maybe get a few of these if you're FFing.
We use Playtex Drop-Ins, which would be nice in your situation. You won't have to worry about washing too many parts. Buy extra nipples no matter what bottles you get.
I have an extra diaper bag if you want me to send it to you--you can just pay shipping. It's a one-arm backpack bag--mainly black with a little lime green on it. That might be nice--more out of the way than a bulky one.
PM me if you want it and I can get it in the mail tomorrow. Then I'll contact you again with how much shipping cost.
