2nd Trimester

Effing doctors office won't answer the phone

Seriously?? This is a high risk pregnancy center. I need to schedule an appointment with them for a level 2 ultrasound. My doctor faxed my records to them over a week ago and they were supposed to call me to set up the appointment. I haven't heard from them, so I called my doc today to get the office number and they have not answered the phone once. I get an answering machine every time. I left a message shortly after their office opened and no one has returned my call either. I am so irritated! At the very least they could have someone answering and taking messages so that you feel like they give a crap! UGH!!!

  • I was about to ask you if we go to the same office!  When I was there this afternoon, the phone went unanswered several times.  Everyone was busy helping people at the desk, but I believe you should at least ANSWER the phone and explain that you're helping someone and could the caller please hold.  At least that gives the caller the option!  Rude.

I have to have the ultrasound between 18 and 20 weeks. The issue is that I really want my mom to be there and she's going to be away for a week and a half during that 2-week window, so there are only a couple of days that will work and I wanted to try to get an appointment for one of those days.

Hopefully they will not find anything wrong. The reason we are having the level 2 is because my first trimester screen came back with a high risk for Downs based on the baby's nuchal fold measurement. I think it's a little ridiculous because our chances are 1:258, which is less than .04%, but the cut-off they use for someone my age is 1:310, so that's why I'm considered high risk.

I didn't want to go for CVS or amnio since the risk is so low in my opinion, so I opted for the level 2 ultrasound instead, which doesn't pose any risks to the baby and they'll be able to check for additional markers. I am hoping and praying that everything is fine, since I know these screening tests aren't always terribly accurate.

  • That is so frustrating.  I had just missed a call from my Dr. one day and I called back immediately.  I sat on hold for 20 minutes waiting for someone to even answer the phone, then I was told my Dr. was with a patient and would have to call me back.  I didn't hear from her for several hours and I was anxious the whole time.
  • Monday's are the worst I would not expect a call back until tomorrow.  Good luck setting up your appt.
