2nd Trimester

Ugh. Nursery Decor Board

Just went there and there are lots of people who are only a week or two ahead of me who have the nursery completely done!

I'm sure I shouldn't be comparing my progress to others but really can't help it!  LOL.  Someone please tell me that you haven't gotten jack done?

We've painted.  I have the glider, I have the crib (but not yet together), crib bedding.  Bought a bouncer and a boppy and a ton of clothes.  Oh, I got a night light.

Feel SO behind and also soooo uncreative when looking at how adorable some of these people have made their nurseries!

Re: Ugh. Nursery Decor Board

  • We have furniture. It's assembled and in place. That's it =)

I do have to say though we are not going as "all out" as some of the rooms I've seen on that board. Baby is in our room. He has his own little space (our room is HUGE) with his crib, dresser, glider and I'm looking at getting a book case soon.

  • I'm sure this will help you :)

I'm 27 weeks and the room that will be the nursery has not had jack done to it. It's still our storage unit for MIL's stuff.  Don't worry about what the other ladies have done. Some people just have WAY too much time on their hands. Trust me, I've had those types of people tell me "you better hurry up the baby will be here soon", yes that's true, but he wont' be active for a while and that's what bassinets are for.

  • You are only 19 weeks....I would say you are the average pregnant lady when it comes to getting the nursery done.

While I definitely recommend you take advantage of that wonderous 2nd trimester burst of energy, I won't fault you for not having the nursery completely finished.

  • Haha well I have you beat! I don't even have a room for my baby boy... We are looking for a new house in Chicago so yea :(

I do have the theme planned out with all the details so as soon as we get our new house I'll get started!!

  • i've worked on the walls-and we have the glider/ottoman. thats it. we ordered the furniture 4 weeks ago, and its still not in. so you aren't the only one who def. feels behind!
Married my BEST FRIEND on December 1, 2007. Started TTC in March 2008. Found out we were expecting our first child in October 2008 - but had a m/c in December 2008 - resulting in a d&e. Met with a RE in May 2009 and set a plan - but conceived unexpectedly on our own! Our precious little Sophia was born on February 9, 2010! Lilypie Third Birthday tickers

  • Don't feel bad at all!  We were starting to feel the same way, so just last week we cleaned out the office that will be the nursey...it's completely empty and ready for paint and new furniture, but nothing's in there yet. My husband is going to paint this week and then we have yet to figure out what to do about furniture (we don't want to spend a fortune!).  A friend just told me over the weekend that while it's human nature to plan and try to have the room completely done before the baby arrives, that he wished he wouldn't have rushed b/c the baby slept in their room in a bassinet for the first 2-3 months!

  • I still have nothing done or bought for that matter. Other people are buying our big ticket items for us so we have to wait. Plus we are just buying a new house now so I may have to wait another couple month depending on the closing dates!!

I'm sure your nursery will be just as cute and adrorable as the others when its all said and done!!

  • We haven't done ANYTHING yet!

    ?

    No painting, no furniture, nothing!

I am waiting until after the shower, which isn't until Nov, because that's when I'll have the bedding. We will have a the crib soon. But we won't be putting it together until we are ready to set up the whole nursery.

We may paint soon... but we'll see. Its tempting to wait until Thanksgiving break, so we have time to do it over a long weekend.

    So don't stress!!!!!!?

  • Um I have one wall of border paper up, we still have boxes of crap we have to move out. We have not even picked out a crib. So right now we have a pack and play (still in the box) a glider and a small stack of baby clothes. I know what I want to do in the nursery, I've just been unmotivated to actually go forth and purchase.
  • To make you feel better, how about this:  I have nothing done.  In fact the baby's room is still currently set up as our office and I'm sure it'll be a while before we have it cleaned out.  We have nothing for the baby.
  • Don't worry, we just painted this weekend.  Chair rail goes up tonight and hopefully the crib will get put together.  Our mural isn't getting done until 29 weeks.

  • Yeah, I'm not going to have any of that done by 20 weeks.

We're trying to find new jobs/move, so I just don't see the point in getting a nursery set up in our current place when we're not planning on staying. Heck, I haven't even bought anything yet.

  • I think I'm ordering the crib today. I haven't been in a hurry, we don't have a nursery and it will be in our room until we can move (whenever that is). Don't feel bad. Your baby isn't going to notice what is finished and what isn't.

  • I have ripped up the carpet but otherwise have done nothing.  No painting, no furniture, no nothing.

I think I might have chosen a colour scheme but that is it.

  • I got things done way too early with DD... and it SAT there.  This time, I am waiting till about 30 wks to start anything.  I have started purchasing things though.  I def think it's a "new mom thing" to want to get it done so quickly with your first.
  • We've have the crib and that's about it.  It drives my family CRAZY.  But our house is for sale and I don't want to bust my butt making the nursery nice and then have to pack it all up.
  • Ummm, I'm a week behind you and we've done less than jack! We have nothing! Well, we have a carriage that she'll sleep in when she's born (it's a 100 year old family heirloom). We just found out on thurs. that we're having a girl and have done 0 deciding on room theme or anything. We have antique furniture that we still have to re-finish for her and we still have to clean out the room that will be hers... I think you're WAYYYYY ahead of me!!!

  • ummm, I have the paint picked out....I have the crib set up and the bedding in it (though its there just for show, I still need it washed)....yup, thats it...

We have to rip up half the floor and replace it from pet damage.  Painting soon.  Need to paint the new trim and then put it up.  We are adding a chair railing for accent so I need to paint that and put that up.  Otherwise, still working on all the decor plus I haven't ordered the carpet to get that bound into a rug yet...ugh...The trim and painting is what I desperately want done!  Then I can worry about the decor I suppose.  My glider is at my gma's house (I've had this since HS so not new...just waiting for its space to open back up...).

This. The only baby items we have (3 onesies, 3 bibs) are in a Target bag, hanging on the doorknob of our junk closet. I'm sitting in my "nursery" right now!

  • We have done NOTHING!  We are going in OCtober to get the furniture, and I guess we will start in NOvember.
  • We haven't done a damn thing. Our basement flooded last month, so all of our belongings are upstairs (we live in a split level). The room that is going to be the nursery is so full of stuff there isn't even a walking path through it. We are almost done fixing the basement, and getting the nursery ready is the next thing to do on the list. The only baby thing we have is a mobile that someone gave to us. Otherwise we haven't bought nor acquired anything yet.

  • Kim, just to make you feel better I'll give you a little peek at the disaster zone that will be our nursery:

It looks worse in pictures, but I am slowly getting the mountain of clothes and junk sorted through (read: thrown out). The dresser, armoir, and desktop computer will be staying in the room, but everything else will be getting taken out/down. So I'm pretty much at square one. I didn't plan on getting everything done until late Dec - early Jan.

  • I'm one week behind you and we have zero. I think it is still really early, personally. I will probably do my nursery around 30 weeks.

    LOL.  Thank you, Madame Primm!

  • Totally with madameprim on the nursery front!! Yes, I am a few weeks behind, but we have painting, carpet, cleaning up stuff, and putting in a ceiling fan to do. I will say that we did just order the furniture cause the place will take 12 weeks to get in.. but they hold it as long as we need them too! To be honest, the baby can really sleep in a cradle in your room for awhile.. so when it gets done, its gets done.. baby doesnt know! :) GL!
  • Here's what I've done:

    1.  Gotten knocked-up

    2.  Freaked out

    3.  Started basement remodel to make bedrooms.

LOL ... we have quite a ways to go.

We're not even buying furniture until close to Christmas - or after.

  • I'm 23 weeks, and we have a crib.  We need to paint, and I'd like to do some decorating, but will wait until after the baby shower to buy anything else, unless I find an amazing deal :-)

  • When I was pregnant with my DD I didn't even order the furniture until I was about 20 weeks...and it didn't arrive until I was 36 weeks pregnant.  So no, you are not behind LOL.

We got things done at varying times.  My DD was due in May of 08.  We painted Thanksgiving weekend of 07, ordered the glider in December and picked it up in January.  Hung chair rail in January as well.

After that we didn't do anything until the furniture came, because I couldn't hang things on the wall until the furniture was there.  I had measured, but didn't want to put holes in the wall until I had the furniture in it's place.  So her nursery wasn't done until about a month before she was born.

  • It's just like wedding planning, remember how people were all done and you hadn't even started but then you discovered others were WAY behind you?  Don't stress.
