Pregnant after a Loss

At what point do I call the Dr.

I have been soooo sick today. To the point where I want to crawl in a whole and never come out sick.

I have thrown up everything I have put in my mouth and I'm even having issues keeping water down.

At what point do I call my Dr. about this? I don't want to get dehydrated and make myself even more sick.

Re: At what point do I call the Dr.

  • When is the last time you haven't kept anything down...if it comes near 24 hours of nothing staying down I would call for sure and maybe head to the ER for some IV fluids.

  • I think after 24 hrs...that's what my doctor said! But if your not keeping water down and you think you might be dehydrated...or cramping! Then I would definitely call your doctor now! I hope you feel better soon!

  • I think the other ladies have great advice, but I just wanted to add that I'm sorry you're feeling so yucky!

Tomorrow around 9am will be 24 hours.

  • I'm sorry. That really sucks!  I agree with what the other ladies said.  Try and get some water down before bed - maybe if you drink and try to go to sleep that will help keep it down.
  • call now!  it's better to get treatment before things get too bad!

  • I would definitely either call tonight or at least first thing in the AM - if you got some IV fluids it would rest your belly for a bit and then you could start trying small amounts of fluids after that...

if you are going to try to rehydrate yourself try half and half gatorade and water so you can replenish your electrolytes...and try a medicine cup at a time and give it a good 45 minutes between medicine cup amounts..

Good luck and I hope you feel better soon!!!

  • Watch for an increased heartrate, shaky hands, very dry lips ... all signs of being definitely dehydrated. Try 1/2 and 12 of gatorade and water. Try to avoid cold/refrigerated fluids (room temp is better) and let your stomach settle for atleast 30 after vomitting before drinking anything.

And call in the AM if this continues on all night.

  • Oh, sweetie, I'm sorry. Sounds crappy. I think vanessarae had some good advice. But maybe call your doc and see what the on-call doc says.
  • You might also try skipping your PNV to see if that helps.  With my first pregnancy, I couldn't keep anything down at all when I was taking the prenatal vitamins.  I ended up switching to Flintstones--still had m/s, but nearly as bad.
