Yeah, I'm pretty nervous about pooping all over the place. Even though everyone says they whisk it away before you even know it... I don't care!! Also the pain and not being able to get an epidural! I'm sure as the time approaches I will find more to be nervous about!!
The length scares me the most. When I ask people about their labor experience I always ask, how long they were in labor. I have no idea why this freaks me out, but I don't want it to be that long.
I'm scared to death of needles, so the epi has always kinda scared me. My MIL had to get one for her surgery (double lung transplant) so I've seen it done and for some reason, it doesn't freak me out as much as it used to. I am, however, not liking the tearing and stitches deal... that kind of makes me sick to my stomach.
Like yourself, I'm scared of pooping. Although, I'm lucky if I go once a week...so maybe that won't happen? I'm also scared of not being able to get an epidural.
I think we're all scared/worried about something happening to the baby or us during L & D. That goes without saying.
Kinda the opposite of some of you, but I'm worried that the doc will
decide I DON'T need a c-section (we agreed ahead of time that I would
have one, even though he said he would try a VBAC--had a c/s last time
and loved it, but this baby's measuring smaller this time, so far)--I
like everything just as it is down there. I don't want the long labor,
the tears, the episiotomy, etc., etc.
Any type of needle in the spine and ofcourse something goes wrong during the delivery. When I first learned I was pregnant I used to wake up in the middle of the night with anxiety. I am better now though thank god.
I think mine is pooping all over the place while pushing. This happened to my mom while she was in labor with me, so it has me worried now.
Oh also something happening to DH where he wouldn't be able to coach me through it and give me massages.
My SIL and EVERY person I have spoken to who has had a child says that once you're in the moment, you really have NO concern for this or anything referencing dignity, hehe.
p.s. have had two babies and about the pooping thing...it sucks to think about but I made my mom and husband promise not to tell me if I did no matter how many times I asked and believe me when and if it did happen I could have cared less. Trust me, you will have a hundred other things to think about during labor and when you are pushing the only thing you are worried about pushing out is a baby.
I suppose the tearing thing freaks me out more then the pooping now that I think about it. But I DO NOT want a episo! I'm hoping for a completely natural birth as well, but if intervention is 100% medically necessary I'm okay with that. Trying to have a more open mind about it in case it happens so that way I'm not emotionally devastated by the birth.
Also for those freaked out by length of labor, you're usually only in HARD Labor for up to 5 hours, and even that is gradual, women who talk about 24 hr labors usually have really light labor to start with, so light that they can take a nap, or go out to dinner a movie etc.

my number one fear is a c-section...aside from the fear of there being something wrong with the baby or myself. I guess I'm somewhat scared of the tearing thing, but it happened to my SIL and she says it heals really fast. I plan on an epidural so I'm not too concerned about the pain. I'm scared of it wearing off or not working in time though.
If I have a c-section it will have to be a 100% necessity, I can't have scars in my line of work. Hence my fear of it.
I need a higher amount of pain meds than the average person. I had to be sedated for an upper GI. I told the nurse that I have a low tolerance for pain and high threshold for meds/sedation. She said, "we'll just cross the bridge when we come to it." When I came around she said, "you weren't lying." Yeah, no kidding I wasn't. I hope I can get a hold of my past surgical reports so I can prove this to the docs before labor.
Not getting an epidural, which actually might not happen because I had scoliosis surgery on my lower back/spine. If the anesthesiologist doesn't approve because of the placement, I won't get one.
Oh and also the umbilical cord wrapping around the baby's neck. That happened when my mom was delivering my lil sis. She said at the time they couldn't tell her what was happening but she had to stop pushing. My sister came out ok but it still sounds soooo scary.
I'd say a c-section. I so badly want to have a vaginal birth again this time around, not because I'm scared of a c-section, but because the vaginal birth was amazing and so empowering!
And I will say I'm scared of tearing again. I tore VERY badly with my first, all the way into hole #2 and it was extremely painful healing and getting around after that.
I don't feel too scared about labor in general. I'm more overcome with excitement to meet our baby girl! I think if I just keep focusing on the end result, as long as everyone is healthy, it won't matter what it takes to get there.
That said - I'm more nervous about the recovery from birth. Bleeding, milk coming in, healing from tearing or cutting, uterus contracting back to normal, etc.
that it will take 3 days like my first child. that baby will want to stay in it's "kiddie condo" and be stubborn even with an induction.
I had that too, a VERY long induction. Went in on a Sunday and she didn't come out until Wednesday! I am hoping to avoid induction at all costs this time around!!!
I'm scared of passing out or having aheart attack or something like that during labor! I've always had issues with my blood not pumping fast enough to where it needs to be (where the passing out comes from) , there is a name for it, but I cant rememeber, hypo...My doc and I are running some tests next week so we will see what the outcome is and where to go from there.
As for the pooping thing, I dont care if the doc or nurse sees it, I just dont want DH to!!!! You should read Belly Laughs if you havent already, Jenny McCarthy talks about that throughout almost the whole book, very funny. My friend says you just take an enema in early labor and it wont happen ( or at least didnt with her)
Having to have an emergency c-section. This is my first, but I want it to be natural. Also afraid of not getting the epi in enough time or it wearing off, I have a lot of anxiety associated with pain.
i am a first time mom.... soooo everything really. just the unexpected. but im also super excited about it all. im having a natural birth so i have been reading alot and am excited with expereincing everything that comes with it.
my only real worry is the cost. we dont have insurance and cant get any we make to much for state assisted health which isnt saying much. we arnt rich by any means so i think the cost of the labor is what is stressing me out the most!
Re: What's Your Biggest Labor Fear?

two biggest fears:
1. no epi for some reason.
2. pooping.
Pooping is your biggest fear? lol
My biggest fear would be something happening to the baby, or myself during L&D. You hear about that so much these days!!
Ditto!!!! Both of these scare me more than any natural labor pain.

Pushing my whole uterus out with the baby. I know, it won't happen (I even asked) but I had a dream that it did.
I guess I pooped on the table with DS3. I had no idea until I was told afterward. The nurses got rid of it quickly.

Am I the only one who is NOT scared of pooping on the table? I seriously will probably joke about it and move on.
I'm the most scared about something going seriously wrong with either me or the baby.

This. I want a med-free labor really badly!
