DS started on oatmeal a week ago and loves it, he's doing great. But he now seems to be having some trouble pooping. He's constantly pushing. Am I able to feed him 1/4 - 1/2 jar of prunes to help him out? I'm going to call his pediatrician, but on Saturdays it takes forever for the nurse to call back. Just curious if anyone gave their DC prunes at 5 months?
TIA!
Re: prunes - 5 month old?
Sure can! That was DD's first food at 5 mo. because of constipation. They worked like a champ after a day or two. Good luck!
We started solids at 5 months and prunes were one of the first things we tried! DS is ALWAYS constipated thanks to his soy formula... ugh!
Also baby cereal of any kind is constipating- they put lots of iron in it! Probably not a big prob if you BF, but formula already has lots of iron it, so the cereal makes it worse! Just my opinion...
Pears are good for pooping too!
