Why so reluctant to use unpaper towels, DH?!

I keep talking about ordering some, and he is literally using anti-cd arguments, like "the whole point of paper towels is that they're convenient" and "but you'll have more laundry to do then."  WTF?!

I'm the one who uses them most often, anyhow!  I think I'm going to just order some anyway and he'll have to deal.  I'm annoyed.

  • I just stopped buying paper towels and DH is too lazy to go buy them himself so....he came around quickly!

  • my kitchen towels go in the same laundry basket & wash load as Hubby's white undershirts (i.e. the whites load). It's not like you need to do a separate load. Maybe point that out if you have a similar laundry procedure?

I did, but he's being kind of a jack*ss about it.

  • My DH is the same way.

I got him to agree to clean up spills and do basic cleaning with unpaper towels ("rags" as he calls them)  and we do buy recycled paper towels for super gross things like cat puke or whatever nasty deep cleaning things might be needed.

  • I just throw mine in with whatever load I'm about to run (we do all cold water and basically separate zip in this house) so the inconvenient thing always confuses me! But dh is the same way. He makes special trips just to get paper towels because I won't buy them. We go through a ton less because I'm not using them at all and he only sometimes uses them but he's still addicted to them and I don't get the draw at all.

  • Ignore him and buy the towels.  Really nice, soft, absorbent towels.  mamamade on etsy has some gorgeous ones listed right now.

I know!  Do you think this qualifies as one of Jenni's "men are stupid" situations?!

Absolutely.  It also qualifies as one of Glad's "you pissed me off, so I'll smile and buy the first-class upgrade" situation.

Niceness has it's rewards.  Turdyness also has it's rewards.

Teehee, yeah, I know how that is. Mine just caved on the CD issue, but still isn't thrilled about the decision. Surprisingly, he does go for my cloth towels before he reaches for a paper towel. Like a PP, I keep paper around for dog poo & cat vomit, we go through I would say less than a roll per month.

Honestly I would say just buy the cloth towels & have a nice big stack out, right in front of the paper towel roll. He might be too lazy to move the cloth ones out of the way to get to the paper ones :)

Confession:  I totally work it with this angle.  I put the basket of towels right in front of the paper towel thingie.  I *know* that mr.srs is entirely too lazy to reach around, let alone move, the towels to get to the paper.

    Works like a charm.

    :p

  • I would just get them,  we haven't gone that far yet but we don't use paper towels a lot and I buy the ones that are made from 100% recycled paper same with TP.  I feel a little better that way.

I think I will wait until we see how the whole CD thing goes DH is on board for it but I'm also the one who has done all the research so it will a little harder for him. He likes the idea of the money we will save and likes that I save even more by buying most of them used.  I had used CD once before because I have a friend who uses CD and I babysat for her.

There are some things I feel that you still need paper towel for like bacon grease, so when we do get them I think we will still buy paper towel.  I still have to get DH to stop cleaning with paper towel.

He doesn't clean very often but when he does he uses paper towel on the floor, for the bathroom ect.   I don't want to give him to hard a time about it because at least he cleaned.
