Cleaning person

I'm looking to hire a cleaning person so i'm interested in hearing from people who have a cleaning person. I'd like to know how often you have them in, what you have them clean, what they charge,  and are they thru a company or an independent business? Also, if you've had a GOOD or BAD experience I'd be interested in hearing that. Thanks :)

Re: Cleaning person

  • My MIL has worked both for a company and on her own. Generally they charge accord to what you what cleaned, sq. footage and that sort of thing. I think most of the places she does is $30-$60 a house. I have heard as high as $100, but i think that person said they had a 3000+ sq.ft house and had everything cleaned... like spring cleaning, hand washing the hardwoods, wiping down baseboards, etc not just vacuuming, cleaning bath and that sort of thing.

  • Our house is 1600 feet, but she doesn't clean every room. She does a kitchen, living room, powder room, full bath, two bedrooms, a sunroom, a hallway and stairs. That's every other week and she charges $50. I interviewed a lot of people, from services and independent people from Craigs List and they all wanted around $100 for the same amount of work and space.
  • If I could get someone for under $100 I would be over the moon. My house is average in size, probably 2500 - 2700 however I only want once a month cleaning of the floors, bathrooms, kitchen and dusting. PLUS several of the rooms are never used ... guest room, office, formal living room and dining room so those are quick cleans.

Rlthomas7 ... where did you finally find your cleaning person?

  • She was referred by my husband's boss. Where do you live? In the Harrisburg area? I can give you her info if you live in the area. I'm not sure if she's taking new work, but you could ask.
