TTC After a Loss

New to TTC after a Loss

Hello Ladies,

I'm joining your board after my 1st MC this week. I've been ready all your awesome posts, but was not able to find out:

How long do we have to wait before we can try again? I'll see my OB in a few days, but DH and I were talking about it now and I figured you ladies would know?

Please share!

Re: New to TTC after a Loss

  • Sorry for you loss but welcome to the board!  Hopefully your stay is short and sweet!!!

You're doctor will tell you when you can TTC again, most say after 1 or 2 cycles.  Some say 3.  Mine told me they preferred I wait 2 but I didn't...didn't matter I didn't get pg anyway.

It will all depend on how your body is healing.

  • my OB said wait at least 1 period, preferably 3. But there is no physical reason to wait 3 - it's just recommended to get your body back to normal, etc. (i m/c at approx 9 weeks)

after talking it over, DH & I decided to start trying again after 1 period.

  • My OB always wait one full period then it should be ok.  But its up to you and if you and DH feel ready to start again that early.  GL and I am very sorry for your loss.
  • Thanks Girls, I knew you'd have the answers!
  • I was told to wait two cycles. but I think it depends on the circumstances...

Welcome and good luck to you.

  • I'm sorry for your loss and hope your stay here is short.

Unless you have a medical reason to wait longer (e.g. molar pregnancy), I think one cycle is all you'd need to wait to TTC. Good luck!

  • I am so sorry for your loss. welcome.

all dr are different. the more you can wait the better your uterus will heal. for my first they said wait one cycle. my second it took me a long time to recover. but they said 1 to 2. this last one I met with a new RE. she said 3 cycles we will do IUI but I can try on my 2nd and if I get pregnant on my own great.

  • The other posters covered your question. I just wanted to say hi from a fellow DC'er and I'm so sorry you have to be here. I hope your stay here is short.

I'm fairly new to the TTCAL thing, too but have quickly found this to be a wonderful group of ladies.

  • Hi and welcome. I'm sorry for your loss. My doc recommended waiting until I got AF after the D&C to try.
  • sorry for your loss and welcome. i hope your stay here is short.

you hsould talk to your dr. definately before just trying again. mine had me wait 3 cycles after each loss and i think that is best for me, so my body had a chance to rest and relax and recoop before getting KU again.

but if you are ready then go for it, only you know what is right for you. GL!

  • I am sorry for your loss.  I hope you find much love and support here... there is lots to go around.

I was told to wait one cycle, but it was more for dating purposes.  I had a natural m/c, and didn't need a d&c.

Best wishes to you, and I hope you get a sticky baby soon!
