Am I wrong to be annoyed?

Our anniversary was yesterday.  H ordered me flowers.  I'm usually against him "wasting" money on sending flowers, but we do the traditional anniversary gifts and the 4th year is flowers or fruit, so I was just apprciative and didn't think about how $60 would wilt on my desk in just a couple days.  But, I digress...

So, I knew the flowers were coming.  I accidentally saw the charge on our online banking.  By 4:30, when I leave work, the flowers still hadn't come.  I didn't think much of it and wrapped up at work and started to leave when my phone rang.

It was the douchetacular flower delivery driver.  Apparently, the shop "forgot" to put my bouquet on his delivery sheet.  He was terribly rude.  He said he had another delivery and could I just wait at work for another half hour to 45 minutes.

Um, no.

I told him that I had to get my kids from daycare and that my H was going to be none too pleased that my flowers had ridden around in his truck all day, that he'd ruined the surprise by calling me (he didn't need to know I already knew) and that he was asking me to stay late at work to receive them.  I told him to call his supervisor and figure out how to get the flowers to me and to call my H -- the guy who placed the order -- to work it out.

So, 1800flowers calls my H and tells him I've refused the delivery.  That I wouldn't wait "a matter of moments" to get my flowers and that I wouldn't tell the driver an alternate address.

Are you kidding me?

I don't think we should have to pay for the flowers.  They did finally show up at my house at nearly 6pm.  And, like I suspected, they were wilted.  The driver was a d!ck -- some tattooed, gangsta-wanna-be punk with his girlfriend in the car and an obvious bad attitude.  I want to call the shop today and get a refund, but H doesn't think it's necessary (he's a bit anti-conflict).

WWYD?

  • I'd get a refund. We send MIL flowers several times a year and she's returned them several times if one flower in the bunch was not fresh. She's gotten new flowers AND a full refund several times.

  • I'd be pissed too. I've had bad service from 1-800-flowers too. We tried to complain, but could never get a real person to talk to us and emails were not answered.
  • Um, hell to the yeah I'd be calling that shop and demanding a refund. And if they don't comply, I would file a complaint with 1800Flowers, that is BS.

  • I would be livid. I used to work for 1800Flowers, if you call, ask to speak to a supervisor, and explain the situation, they will refund your money.
  • I would totally call the shop and ask for a refund, or at the very least, a credit.

  • I would call and ask for a refund.  He should not have called you, he should have called your DH.  And asking someone to wait 30-45 minutes is unacceptable.

  • Definitely call, that is ridiculous.
  • hell yeah i would call and get a refund or new flowers! that is horrible!
  • Uggh, I'm sorry. I would make my DH do it (mine is the same way - totally avoids confrontation).

  • I'd raise a stink and get a refund.  Not only were the flowers late and wilted, but the customer service was terrible, and last time I checked, 45 minutes was not a "matter of moments."  Just keep asking to talk to supervisors until you get one that will refund the money.
  • I'd call and complain.. that's just rude

1- he should of NEVER called you

2- he should have NEVER asked you to stay late to recieve them

3- he lied about the situation

4- they were wilted from being in the truck all day - purpose of delivered flowers is to get them FRESH

5- he was just down right ignorant!

  • I would totally return them.
