making my trip itinerary- how long to plan for zoo, seaworld, etc.?

Ok, we are going to San Diego this weekend, leaving on Thursday when I get off work.  We plan on going to the zoo and seaworld, but I'm not sure how long I should allow for visiting these places.  Obviously everything doesn't have to the minute, but I'd like to have an estimate.  What do you think?  3-4 hours?  More?  Less?

  • I cant spend more than 3 hours at the zoo. personally I like wild animal park better. I loveee sea world though, Id say about 4-5 hours. LOTS of sunscreen :D

  • we did a cali tour on our honeymoon and were in san diego for 3 days..we did the zoo one day & sea world one day...the zoo at least a day, its huge and they also have beautiful gardens nearby and the wild animal park, which is like a 15 or 20 minute drive from the zoo...sea world can be done in a few hours though...you will want to see shamu and feed the dolphins for sure !
  • I would plan full days each at Sea World and the zoo.  The zoo is really neat at night as well, but that might not work with your LO. I also don't know if they still have their extended hours.

  • Tough call.  It depends on how hot it is.  We went to the zoo about 2 weeks ago and he was drenched in sweat within 30 minutes and we were in the shade.  He couldn't nap comfortably.  We eventually went inside but there's only so much you can do in there.  I wouldn't plan on being there no 3 hours.  2 would even be pushing it.

Sea World will probably be a lot easier to find stuff indoors.

Just checked the forecast... it will be in the mid 70's all week!  Woohoo!  I can't wait to get out of this 105 degree Arizona weather!

  • I would plan for an entire day for each- they are SO big and if you want to see any shows you will be there for a while. I could easily spend a day at each and I've been to both a billion times.
