What diapers do you use?

Hi ladies!

I'm trying to decide which diapers to try first for baby after the newborn size.  I've decided to use Pampers Swaddlers in the beginning, but am curious what brand of size 1s and 2s is popular.  I want to have some on hand for when the baby gets too big for NB size.  Thanks!

Re: What diapers do you use?

  • We stuck with the Swaddlers until juuuust this weekend, when we graduated to a size 3 and went to Cruisers.  I sampled Huggies and Luvs both, and really didn't care for either of them.  The swaddlers are so soft, and have a lot of "give" or Flex in them, which I liked.  The added bonus is that stripe down the front to let you know if they're wet!   wish *all* diapers had that!

  • We use pampers, huggies and just recently tried the up and up. Pampers are my favorite, because they are the softest, at least  imo. However, she just moved into 3s so I haven't experienced with the cruisers and movers yet.
  • We had blowouts with Pampers and tried Huggies.  The legs on Huggies are really wide and we had even more blowouts.  We then tried Luvs.  We have been using them for awhile now and have only had 2 blowouts.  One of which there was absolutely no way any diaper could have contained it.

  • Don't tie yourself to one brand right now.   Babies fit differently diapers differently.    I HATED pampers swaddling in the beginning (well, I hate them all the time).   Get a couple of different ones, or even some samples so you can see what fits your baby best.   Huggies supreme (red bag) or Huggies pure and natural are my favorites for newborn so far.
  • We still use the pampers. They're really soft. When DS started STTN, we started using the 12 hour pampers...but he has yet to leak through the pampers during the day. I have heard some people say their LO pees through, but we've been lucky so far!
  • I don't like Huggies at all. We've tried the Parents Choice diapers at Walmart which are great if your child is a brick.

Otherwise we used Pampers Swaddlers and now use Pampers Dry though I'm going to try Pampers Cruisers next time.

  • I agree with PP, don't buy too much of one brand.  I had to use pampers with my oldest, nothing else would contain her projectile pooping.

My 4 month old can use kirkland diapers from Costco.  They're not bad (and cheap)

  • We've been through quite a few and have settled on Huggies Supreme "Little Snugglers." What diaper works best depends a lot of your LOs body type and poop style. DD is one to poop up on her back and this diaper has a "poop catching pocket" in the back.

  • When he was in Huggies he may as well have no even been wearing a diaper. I kid you not. Pee EVERYWHERE.

    Pampers were slightly better.

Parents Choice = Wal Mart Brand, strangely, are the only ones that don't leak out the side for him. I think its his body shape.

  • We liked Pampers Swaddlers the best... Huggies was just ok... Luvs was cheap, but horribly rough and crunchy feeling.

I wish they had these when my oldest was little.  I would hear her grunt and rip her pants off and lay her on a cloth diaper.  It was that bad!

  • We use Pampers Swaddlers but we're about to move up to size 3 so we're looking for another brand. Honestly, I would buy a few small packages of different brands. You can always go to the store when you get to the point where you need more diapers. DD was in nb diapers for 4 weeks.
  • We used pampers swaddles from NB-1-2. Now use Luvs 2's love them! Holds a lot of pee.

I know the feeling! DD went through a period where when I would hear the gushing noise, I would grab her under the arm pits and start jogging towards the changing table and try to get her clothes off as soon as possible. These seem to slow it down a little, but DD is getting less explosive. It also helped when I put her in a size 2, as soon as she hit 12 lbs. More diaper there to catch everything!

  • We are using Pampers but the target brand works just the same they just run a bit bigger.
  • Swaddlers!!! Once you use them every other kind will feel rough and scratchy!
  • We use cloth at home (BG 3.0), but Huggies at daycare (they won't use the cloth ones).  We tried Pampers when she was first born, but they gave DD an awful rash.

  • We used Pampers Swaddlers Sensitive until size 1-2.  Then we used Costco's Kirkland brand which are great.  Now we are using Luvs during the day and love them (we tried them because there isn't a size 2 in Kirkland diapers).  We use Pampers Baby Dry at night (they're 12 hour overnight diapers).

I didn't have to buy any Newborn diapers though...I actually had to give my open packs away and exchange the unopened packs for different sizes.  I got enough through my shower and from the hospital (hospital sent me home with 2 - 40 packs of Swaddlers).

He went through newborn diapers about 10 diapers a day and was in them for 10 days...so about 100 diapers.
