Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Anyone else broke??

After reading PP about finances I feel like crap!  We are broke!  DH took a pay cut and I may lose my job at the end of the month.  We are still recovering from when I was out on Maternity Leave.

Please tell me I am not alone with the $$ struggle right now.

Re: Anyone else broke??

  • You are not alone, I've been out of work since March due to pregnancy complications and bedrest....that hit us pretty hard.

I go back to work tomorrow and it will probably take us a better part of a year to get back on top of everything.

  • No, no. You are not alone. At all! Sucks. I want nothing more than to be able to stay home with my little guy.

  • I'm with you! We're paying  $900 a wk now for daycare...it's killing us. My husband just took a second job reffing little league football on the weekends to make ends meet. I hate digging into our savings to pay bills...ugh! We will make it through this...some way God will provide!
  • both Dh and I work for CA state and we both got a 15% reduction in pay, on top of everything breaking on us...and this month we have our son's baptism! I just think that my parents had far less than we do, if they were able to do it, we can!

    Good luck girly!

  • I will be once I finish paying off these hospital bills.
  • I'm with you. Thanks to all the bed rest I was on before DS was born. If it weren't for my mom keeping DS for free right now, I don't know how I'd be able to go back to work to try and help us catch up. It sucks, but I am just glad my manager held my position for me for such a long time.

Seriously, $900 a week?  Are they paying for his college education too?  And I thought $250/week was a lot when we were looking.

  • DH just finished med school, and we're almost $200,000 in debt between the two of us. Our credit is absolute rubbish, and we won't be able to buy a car or a house for probably 10 years. Every single dollar that comes in goes to rent, bills, groceries, and debt repayment. We are at the bottom of a very, very deep pit.

  • We are broke too. It's from buying a bunch of baby stuff though.

    This.

  • Your baby is beautiful!!!  You are def not alone!!  We are having financial difficulties also!!  Just stay positive things will work out Smile
  • You most definitely are not alone!  I lost my job right before we found out I was pregnant and DH works two full time jobs and we still live w/my mom! It seriously sucks right now!
  • I don't even want to think about where we will be in a few weeks.  I don't have a pd mat leave, only 2 weeks vacation and a few grand extra we saved for the time I will be off of work.  But I'm sure I can go thru that $ in no time at all. Ugg, and my job is the money maker, DH makes ok money, but has great insurance; so we really count on both of our jobs/income.

  • so not alone! DH has been unemployed for some time now and since I've been on Maternity leave, somehow the state screwed up and I haven't gotten paid yet, and I"ve been on leave for 6 weeks now! I will get the backpay eventually, but until then we've recieved $500 in the last month and a half, definitely doesn't pay the bills. Sadly I can't even say we're living paycheck to paycheck, we're living on credit cards right now.

  • We too have not been able to get caught back up from my Mat leave. We finally had to call the mortgage company and let them know we are having problems. They are working with us over the next few months until we get things back to normal. We will still be broke btw, but at least caught up on the house.
  • we've been broke for a while now because DH has been out of work since December (that;s right, before DD was born). Our only saving grace is that we got a lawyer and went to court and they insurance company settled with us..we stil don't have the money though

  • DH's work place has been shut down for at least 6 months for maintenance.  Everyone still has a job there (so they don't have to bring people in), but it's not his regular job, and he's losing $600 a month.

Not that I'm glad your in this situation, but I'm glad to know we are not the only ones!! I feel like a failure! Things have been scary for a while now, my mom and her bf moved in with us in march because they had no jobs and no where to go. They finally start work on the 16th and things should start getting better!

I hope everything gets better for everyone! It is not fun being broke!
