Do you rinse salad packs?

I just had a fresh express salad pack which claims they rinse before they put in the bag..and I'm not use to rinsing so I forgot and ate it for lunch.

I'm a little paranod being 5weeks pregnant...but wondering if this is necessary if they already claim they wash and rinse before packing?

Re: Do you rinse salad packs?

  • No, it's not necessary. They are ready to eat right out of the bag.

  • I always wash them, but 1) it is probably not necessary, and 2) if there is ever another recall like there was a couple of years ago, washing didn't help (the bacteria were in the broken/bruised stems/leaves/etc.).  It's just a habit.  )

  • the thought of salad make me nauseous right now, so I don't know.

We always buy our lettuce in heads b/c we used to get grossed out by how quickly the salad packs got slimy. (ick, sorry for that image!)

    I'm sure you're fine though.

    And get yourself a ticker!

    How do you do that???
  • I chose my ticker from lilypie.com, but I think the bump also has some. The website will walk you through the steps of choosing the design, and then it will give you a code. Just cut and paste the code into your siggy - the same place where you've put all your cycle info. It will show up!

  • yay - you did it! I'm always afraid too, but I figure I want to be happy each day that I know I'm pregnant - carpe diem and all that.
