bruise on childs middle lower back....

About a month or so ago, i notcied a small bruise (about 1 inch in diameter) on my 3 yr old son's middle lower back.  I didnt think much of it since he's a boy and is always playing rough and i actually forgot about it....but then last night i noticed it that it was still there.  My husband usually gives kids baths so thats why i didnt see it, but last nite i gave him one.  shouldn't the bruise have gone away by now?  I've been searching the internet and have found some scary info about why he could have one that didnt go away...such as blood diseases, leukemia, etc....he's a healthy normal little boy and am concerned and scared sinced i searched the internet about this...anyone ever had an issue like this?

  • Chances are, it's not the same bruise, but a new one.  My child will get them in that same place.  Who knows what it is that he does, but he gets them in strange places on his legs too.

  • could it be another one? My dd has had a bruise on her middle back and we figured out how she got it.  She loves one of our higher size chairs (it is for a pub style table) and she was sitting in it and tried to get down from it and couldn't quite reach.  She slid down it and bruised her back.  DD bruises super easy and is super fair skinned so they seem to show quickly and last a long time.

  • My DD almost always has a bruise in the middle/lower back. I couldn't figure it out.  Then I watched her get down from the kitchen table one night and it clicked.  She turns around in her chair, pushes her back against the table to push the chair out, then hops down.  The bruise is right where her back pushes against the table.  She keeps hitting/pressing the same bruised place not offering it much chance to heal.

  • DS gets these, we think from flopping around on a book in his crib.
  • DD gets them. We figured out it was from getting up and down from the swing at the park. Also from getting to the end of the slide and scooting the rest of the way off.
  • What nationality is DS?  My kids are 1/2 Chinese and both of them have Mongolian spots which are birth marks that look like bruises.  Just a thought although it would have been there from birth or shortly after.
