Pre-E/HBP Mamas..

If you had/have headaches, could you describe them?

Ive had a headache every day for the last two weeks and Tylenol doesnt touch them. Sometimes I get a sudden intense throbbing on one side of my head that lasts a few seconds also. Ive been monitoring my BP and its been fine (I think? Im usually around 120/low 70s at the Dr., and sometimes its 130/low 80s at home), but Im still worried because I dont know what else it could be, as Ive tried caffeine, rest, ice etc. Thanks for any help...

(Mentioned it to my OB and she isnt worried either...)

  • For me, they were intense - I woulnd't have been able to function to post on the nest, or drive, etc.  They were beyond painful and unlike any other headache I've ever had.

  • I am keeping headaches - some worse than others but as of yet, I have not had "the" pre-e headache. It is essentially knocks ya on your butt and you cannot function... not to say the reg dull headaches are not pre-e related.... because they very well could be. Tyelenol does nothing for the headaches I have now. But (as they ask me here 50 times a day) on a scale of 1-10 where does your headache fall - I am usually between 2-6. I will save those upper numbers for "the" pre-e headache I unfortunately know, and hate.
  • Pre-e headaches can be like that, but it could be a migraine.  I get migraines pretty regularly, so it wasn't possible to differentiate the causes for me--they felt about the same. If your doctor doesn't think it is pre-e related, I'd ask for some medication to manage the pain.
