how many items are on your registry?

my hostess is telling me i need to add more things to my registry. i had about 50 items on there and im trying to find extras to bulk it up. is this really not that much stuff?? thats all my necessities and then some!

edit: im having 2 showers, each will have 15 people or so.

Re: how many items are on your registry?

  • I think ours has 55.  I'm not going to put every stinkin' little thing on there.

  • That sounds like plenty of stuff to me.  It's not like people won't be able to think of something to buy you if the registry gets bought up.  I wonder why she wants you to add more.  Does she have a child and feel like you are missing stuff?

thats what i thought. i figure lots of people wont even look at the registry, anyway!

nope, she just says i need to give my guests plenty of options. im just going to add a few more things, i dont want to end up with things i didnt really care about with the things i wanted still on there.

  • We only have 36 right now, but there are definitely things I'm forgetting (small things like a portable changing pad, car seat head holder up thing- yeah I don't know the technical term, etc etc).

I'm registering for as much as we want/need ONLY because of the completion coupon. I don't care if others buy us stuff or not.

  • Mine has maybe 50 items.

Keep in mind that some people no matter what, will just go out and buy you stuff not on your registry (like clothes that they see somewhere, or diaper bag essentials).

My SIL had only 20 items total (cause she went out and bought everything she basically needed when she found out the sex). Lucky her!

  • I would only be concerned with a variety of prices, maybe she thinks you need some more expensive/less expensive items.

  • Oh, I'm having two showers as well - I figure if people are reeeeealy generous at the first one, we can go back and add stuff prior to the second shower.

FWIW, I just felt uncomfortable adding anything having to do with pumping.  I didn't add any clothes or receiving type stuff as people will give that in gobs regardless of what's on the registry.  Plus, we already have a lot of good hand me downs that eliminated probably 5 items from the registry.  And our nursery is already finished, so no need to register for furniture/bedding.

  • Like a million! I have 2 registried and one of them had just under 100 while the other has about 75ish. I know that's A LOT of items but most of them are cheap- under $20/$10. I figure if I don't get certain things, I can use my completion coupon on it. I put several books and small toys that I thought were really cute that people may just toss in with other items they are buying.

  • i guess im not going to worry about it. i made sure to have a huge variety in prices, and i didnt register for any blankets or clothes, i know ill get tons of those regardless!
  • I don't think that the number of items matter, but have a variety of prices and enough little things. People usually have a budget. So if they go in thinking they're going to spend $40 and you have things that cost $20-30ish then they can fill in with all the little stuff.

  • I have about 60-70 items on our registries all together and my mom and aunt keep yelling at me saying we don't have enough on there. I told them we have everything we want/need on there except clothes because people will buy clothes without us registering for them. We are having one shower with about 40 people attending.

  • I have about 81 items. I just put on there whatever I wanted or needed. I figured whatever I didn't get, if I still want it or need it, I at least get the 10% off.?
  • I think we have close to 100 items between the 2 registries.  The rule of thumb we were told was to have about 5 items per person attending the shower.  That most people will buy multiple gifts, not just one... unless it's a large gift maybe.  I am thinking there is goign to be about 50 people at my shower, so that would be 250 items! haha, that isn't going to happen.
  • We have 80+ items. It's more for my benefit, I'm a visual person so I like seeing a list of things I'd like and their price. Most people at the showers I attend don't even buy off the registry anyway. So, if we don't get what we want at least I have down what I do want/need to get!
  • I only have about 36 items.  I used to have over 60, but then my mom told me it was stupid to have things like $2 pacifiers and $6 fitted mini crib sheets... so therefore I narrowed it down to bigger items (bouncer, bib and burp cloth set, sleep sac and swaddler set)  so that people feel like they are buying me a "gift" as opposed to a bunch of random crap in a gift bag.

However, I keep hearing about this registry completion coupon... and now I am reconsidering adding back the inexpensive crap.

  • I have about 83 on my Amazon.com gift registry. I tried to leave off personal things like breastfeeding supplies and diapers while still keeping a varying price range of items. I have family all over so it seemed the easiest although everyone is trying to get me to register at a regular store as well but I have heard such bad things about returns to BRU and Target that I do not know what other store to choose.
  • BRU - 82 items

    Target - 55 items

I am having 3 showers, so I am registering for everything.
