Thyroid Level

in 1st Trimester
My dr's office wants me to go in for more testing on my thyroid level. The nurse said it is still in the normal range, they just like it around 3 and mine is 4.5.  My friend had the same problem and when she went back her levels were normal. I hope that happens to me! Has anyone else had this problem? They said if it hasn't changed I'll probably have to go on medication. Eek!

    I haven't had this problem yet, but I anticipate it.  I had thyroid problems in the past that have diminished, but they are going to keep an eye on my numbers while I'm pregnant.  I am hoping I won't need meds, too.  Good luck!!!

    Yep, I have hypothyroidism. I take a tiny pill every morning...it's called Synthroid. It's no biggie at all and I have no side effects from the medication. I was losing a lot of hair before any treatment and had other symptoms like fatigue and weight gain. So, that tiny little pill isn't so bad once you see how much it helps!

    i take synthroid as well, it's not really that big of a deal.

    i'm hypo- due to a total thyroidectemy because of my graves' disease

    Your levels aren't that bad, right on the cusp actually, so there is a chance that they will go back down.  However, as you're pregnant, taking the medication would be a good thing.  For pregnant women, my endo recomends 2.5 or lower, so I don't know.  The medication, is tiny, easier than taking a multivitamin.

    Thanks everyone! I go today, so hopefully the levels went down. Good to know a simple little pill could really help. I feel better already!
