I teach high school French. Today I had my level three class, with whom I'm very close. They're amazing kids.
In my room, I have a "parking lot" on the wall, where kids can post random questions they want me to answer whenever I get a chance during our lesson. Three different students went up today and posted a question on the parking lot and then there was a lot of giggling and smothered laughing going on afterward. I had a feeling I knew what the question was.
At the end of class, I went over and pulled down the post it notes. One said "How do you say 'Are you pregnant, Madame?' in French?" They were mortified to have asked, but still dying to know the answer. I said "Oh no, I guess I've eaten too many cheeseburgers!!" Their faces fell and they looked very nervous (which I enjoyed immensely for a second). Then I said "No, I'm just kidding guys, this bump is from a baby; I'm pregnant." The entire class cheered really loudly and some even hugged each other. It was SO sweet!
On one hand, I can't believe their nerve, but on the other, it made me feel so good about finally coming clean. Had to share.
Re: I just got the best reaction to my news! :)
that's really cute!
So, wait. You didn't answer them in French? Where's the learning in that?
That's a very cute story and I'm guessing it was a great experience for you!
Reading that made me want to cry!!

You must be an amazing teacher to have kids so close to you like that. That story truly touched my heart. :-)
Congratulations to you !!!!!!!
