I'm watching Birth Day on Discovery Health right now and a 28 week old baby is being born and it's about the saddest thing I've ever seen. I understand that there is a difference between 28 weeks and 35-37 weeks, but still, why don't you want the baby to stay as long as he/she can so that they are more healthy? I may be opening up a can of worms with this but so be it. My nephew was born at 37 weeks and he still had to be in the NICU for a few days because of his breathing. I'm aware that pregnancy is uncomfortable at times and it only gets more uncomfortable towards the end, but DEAL WITH IT, it's almost over, it's not like there is never an end to pregnancy.
Re: to everybody that wants an outside baby early..
My son is allowed to come out anytime after 37 weeks as long as he's ready.
I am so tired of these posts.
I don't think there is a single woman on this board that wishes for a premature or unhealthy child. Yes,everyone is tired, uncomfortable, anxious and ready to be done. But, everyone also wants a healthy child. Saying that you want the baby out, are done being pregnant, etc are just expressions and vents.
I personally have only seen one post where someone under 37 weeks said they want their baby to be born.
I think it is one thing to say "I am so sick of being pregnant. Once I hit 37 weeks I'm going to order for his eviction" and saying "I want to have my baby early even if he isn't ready."
Ditto this.
y would i go to a website on the internet for support? i get support from family and friends. i'm here merely for information and occasionally to lurk on entertainment.
I'm not tired of being pregnant. I don't want a preemie.
BUT. Hell yeah, I'd love to meet my baby. Doesn't mean I seriously want to have my baby now, or a week from now. I just want to meet this little sucker and see what he/she is like. I'm curious.
I agree!
just because I hate pregnancy and wish the baby would come doesn't mean I actually really WANT THE BABY TO COME EARLY. Of course I want her to stay in as long as possible. I just want the TIME to go by faster.
Why are there so many posts on this? geez.
i totally agree but there are a ton of people, IRL and on thebump that think because the baby can survive at this stage that it's ok if it is born
Seriously. Just stop while you're ahead.
I wish my baby stayed in longer
She wansn't ready
You come here for information? That sounds more ludicrous to me than coming to the interwebs for support. You don't know these people- why the hell would you automatically trust the information you get here?
THIS EXACTLY!!! enough with these posts.......people are just venting. Give me a break.
I think there are two parts to this.?
The first is that just because we complain and say we want our babies out, doesn't mean we want a preemie. Of course we all want healthy babies - it is just venting and that is what the board is for.
On the other hand, a lot of people these days truly feel like 37 weeks is full term and the baby is ready to come out, so they are miserable waiting the "extra" weeks. There are a lot of new studies on this, and those extra weeks do often matter. A lot of babies are being induced around 38 weeks for all different reasons and they are turning out to have a lot of developmental problems as they grow up. There is a big article on it in the new PArenting Magazine.
So, I think both perspectives are valid. ?
I feel these posts are made to stir up drama. How could someone post this and NOT expect to see an influx of responses and get people heated.
I agree with most on here - just cause I'm over being pregnant does NOT mean I want a preemie. I said this yesterday in ANOTHER one of these posts. If pregnancy were 45 weeks and thats how long it would take for him to be ready then hey, bake away. But that doesnt mean I have to fake a smile and gush about the the nonexistent joys of the last weeks of pregnancy.
definately not meant to stir up drama....i was just eating my morning crunch berries when my friend, who is 34 weeks, texted me and said she wanted her baby born today cuz shes sick of it...which reminded me of a few times i've read it on here and then i saw that episode of Birth Day and it just came out...i honestly wasnt trying to get people worked up.
...your lecture was unnecessary!

I was born at 28 wks...30 yrs ago. Had I been a boy I would probably not have made it according to the dr's. I was in the NICU for 3 months. I can't imagine what it was like for my parents to go through having a preemie...all the dr's visits, physical therapy, specialists etc. We will be forever grateful to the March of Dimes and Easter Seals for providing care for myself and support for my family.
I can't wait to have my baby but I'll wait as long as it takes for him to get here.
Oh for Pete's sake, we all want healthy babies, but by 37 or so weeks we are a bit tired, bloated, and impatiently awaiting this little person who has become so important to us. YOU DEAL WITH IT...geesh.
