You clearly can't shake the formula in the bottle b/c the straw and stuff and hwen i shake it with just the nipple screwed on- i go to take it off to put in the straw and disc and it is leaking all over. How do you prepare your powder formula in a doctor browns? TIA!
Also, I'm new to the powder formula thing...if i make a bottle how long can it stay in room temp? How long can it stay in the fridge?
TIA!
Re: Dr. Browns and powder formula
I use Dr Browns an i do shake the formula in it. I make sure it is all mixed an well then unscrew the lid an in a few minutes all the air is out then replace it an its good to go.. While the lid is off an straw is out i place the bottle in warm water to warm it.. then put it all back together an give it to her.
I was always told formula after heated or eaten from is only good for 1 hour. And if it is made an put straight into the fridge without LO eating from it or you warming it it will last up to 24 hours.
When feeding the baby you have to have that straw in it and that other piece otherwise it will leak all over I've been there! also did come with just a white screw top like as if you were traveling you can keep it shut? try to shake it with that with out the straw and the other beige piece. It should have came with that white cap...(not the tall white cap the smaller one) Also, powder formula at room temp is good for 2 hours. once baby starts eating its only good for an hour after that disguard. In the fridge i think its 48 hours. It should say it on the can of formula

I second the recommendation to use a Dr. Brown's pitcher, however.
i put the power in, put all the parts together and shake the bottle. just like any other bottle. i have never had a problem. this is baby #2 doing it this way.
i don"t "shake" i swirl around a few times, it dissolves very fast.
This may or may not be in your future, but for daycare, we mix the formula in a nalgene bottle (oz. clearly marked on the side) and send that. They just pour it into the dr. brown bottles and warm them when she needs to eat. I make it the night before so all air bubbles have settled out. It seals up really well and travels great.
This is a GREAT idea, thank you!!
This. I just got it and I love it. All I have to do afterward is pour it in a bottle, then sit the bottle in a glass of hot water for a couple minutes to warm it up and it's ready. No bubbles.
