QOTD:  How are you sleeping?  Now that bellies are starting to really make themselves known are you having troubles getting comfortable?

Me:  I am usually a back sleeper and that is no longer comfortable for me so I feel like I spend the evening rolling from side to side all night.  Bummer!  I have been having weird dreams as well.  To say the least, I have been a pretty tired mommy which is what prompted the question of the day!

Re: First in '10 Wednesday Check In

  • HI! I try to sleep whatever way I can. Getting comfy is starting to become a chore.
  • Loading the player...
  • Ha!

I sleep fine when I'm alone.  I'm so so so glad we haven't moved DD out of the nursery yet so I can sleep in what's still (for now) our guestroom.

I don't know what we'll do once she transitions to her "big girl room."  LOL.

  • I am having strange dreams, but otherwise sleeping is...eh.  Just okay, not terrible, not great.

On another note, please add me to Team Blue!

I don't know what's up with my siggy and I am too lazy to figure it out.
  • QOTD: I have never slept well, so my sleeping is about the same. It's harder to get comfy, and it's hard to breathe in a few positions (been having that trouble since week 12). I do still sleep on my belly sometimes though. Whatever it takes to catch some zzzz's!
  • I'm not sure I want to talk about sleep, it gets me all frustrated!

I got a body pillow last weekend and it's kind of helping, but I've found if I don't use it at some point in the night, DH steals it from me. He was NOT a happy camper this morning when his head hit the matress because I yanked it away from him.

I think my biggest problem is that it's getting difficult to flip over. I wake up because either A) I'm on my back or B) that side of my body has gone numb and I need to turn over...but turning over is NOT easy.

And the sad part is that it'll only get worse Sad

  • I'm finally getting used to sleeping on my side and sleeping better in the past few days.  There are times I wake up on my back but,  I just roll over to my side and fall back asleep.

  • Can you add me to team green please?!  I have my 20w u/s next week, but we're going to stay team green!

I've been sleeping really well at night.  I am having really weird dreams, but they don't wake me up .  I don't feel tire when I wake up.  Lucky so far...

  • QOTD: How are you sleeping? Now that bellies are starting to really make themselves known are you having troubles getting comfortable?

I think I've slept through the night once since I've gotten to second tri. I bought a body pillow yesterday, but for some reason I could only sleep well with it on my right side or my back, I just couldn't get comfortable on my left side. LOL And then after the really creepy dream I had, that just added to the lack of sleep.

  • Hi January Mommies!

Sleeping hasn't changed too much for me. I sleep on my back & sides and haven't been too uncomfortable yet. I just have to make sure the room is cool. (or as FI would say "freaking freezing)

I know the bigger I get, the more uncomfortable sleeping will become, but at least it's not too bad now.

  • I have been sleeping ok... I am a stomach sleeper Sad I try to swing it will pillows.  Other than that, all is good
  • My U/S is tomorrow. Hopefully I'll have a team to join tomorrow! QOTD: I wasn't sleeping very well right from the beginning, but a few weeks ago I started sleeping with a pillow between my knees and that helped. Also, once I had the energy to skip the 1st-tri afternoon nap, I noticed a big difference in how I sleep at night. Lately it's been pretty good, but I have had some wacky dreams!

  • Since hubby works nights I get the queen bed all to myself, minus what the animals take up, so I steal his pillows and his side of the blankets to pile them up and make it comfy. I was always a side sleeper so that was never a problem.
  • My sleep has become awful! I have always been a tummy sleeper and obviously that doesn't work now. Add back pain and the fact I always seem to wake up around 3-4am and it makes me very cranky!

I've been sleeping pretty poorly recently. Most of the time it's because my hip that I'm sleeping on goes to sleep. Also, my dogs have been more and more obnoxious at night, but that could be because I'm sleeping lighter and hearing more of the obnoxiousness that they probably normally do. Who knows? Either way, it's making me pretty miserable and grumpy...but at least I'm a SAHM and I can sleep in most mornings to catch what Zzzz's I can. Sleep

  • QOTD: Sleeping fine but not great! If I wake up in the middle of the night (usually closer to 3 or 4 am) it's really really hard for me to fall back asleep. Even with my boppy body pillow!
  • I used to be a stomach sleeper, when that got uncomfortable I switched to my back. Now I just switch side to side all night.
  • I sleep 1/2 on my side each night. 1/2 stomach 1/2 side or 1/2 back 1/2 side! I always wake up around 2am though to go to the bathroom! then i can't fall back asleep!!!

  • i toss and turn a lot. i did wake up last night on my back, and quickly rolled onto my side, the LO gave me a thank you kick shortly after! so other than tossing and turning i am sleeping OK. I find that my left hip aches if i sleep on my left side all night. Does this happen to anyone else?

  • I am usually a back sleeper as well, it still works for me most of the night.  I do toss and turn alot after one hip goes numb.  I have been having crazy heart palpitations when sleeping on my left side, so that doesn't work out.  All in all, I guess I could be worse during the day, not too tired.
  • Still a tummy sleeper. I feel a bit of pressure on my tummy over the last couple of days, but still no noticable bump, so it's easy to sleep on my stomach. I am trying to get into the habit of sleeping on my left side so it won't be a hard transition in a few weeks/months/whenever belly makes an appearance :)

On a side note, we are definitely Team Green. At our ultra sound yesterday baby was not giving up the goods- or anything or then it's back for that matter. All we could see was the spine. Sad to not get any ultra sound pics that are cool, but happy that everything looks great.

  • I'm a back sleeper/ side sleeper; but I had been training myself to sleep on my back because my traps (and upper ribs) were getting all out of whack so the chiro wanted me to sleep on my back.

Well now I am trying to sleep on my sides, but now I wake up with a stiff neck or hands/fingers that are asleep.

Half the time I wake up on my back anyways, but it's not uncomfortable yet.

When are you finding out if you are having one or two babes?

  • I'm a back sleeper and still sleeping on my back because I end up there anyways.  I've been trying to start out on my left side, which isn't too uncomfortable for me, but when I wake up I'm on my back again.
  • I have always been a side sleeper but for some reason, since I got pregnant, I have wanted to sleep on my back. Since I can't do that anymore, I just go side to side the whole night. I'm definitely not sleeping as well as I used to, that's for sure.
  • I am still dead tired when I wake up. I'm most comfy on my back these days so I usually stick my pillow behind my knees (instead of between). And lately I've been wanting to sleep in my stomach, which I can't do, so that sucks. I also wake up several times a night just because I get uncomfy, or I hear something.
  • QOTD:  I'm a stomach sleeper and just this week I've noticed that it's no longer comfortable.  It hasn't seemed to affect my sleep much yet.  I'm actually sleeping better than I was in the first tri, I think due to the fact that my hormones have finally leveled out.

  • QOTD: I am currently sleeping in a recliner and I have to sleep on my side.  I have tried sleeping on my back and I wake up sore.  I can't sleep on my stomach anymore, so it is side sleeping or no sleeping.

One week until my Big u/s though! That excitement is more than enough to hamper sleeping!

  • Most nights I am sleeping fine. All is well onver on this end just looking forward to going to the dr. every two weeks.
  • Hi to all! I'm a tummy sleeper and I'm really starting to miss it at this point. I make myself comfortable w/ a pillow b/w the legs, but it would be nice to be able to go on my stomach. Guess I'll just have to get another prenatal massage and go to a place with a cut-out for the belly ;)

  • Horribly. I was always a back sleeper and it is NOT comfortable at all anymore. I bought a body pillow that is not helping me stay on my side so I guess I'll have to invest in a pregnancy pillow. I also pee at least once a night so that isn't helping either. Oh, and I have super sex dream powers- those make my sleep not so restulful either. Sign.
  • How are you sleeping?  Now that bellies are starting to really make themselves known are you having troubles getting comfortable?

like total crap!  last night i actually got 5.5 hours straight-but i had our daughter sleep with us.   otherwise i get up to pee, can't fall asleep, about the time i do fall asleep she is awake in her room and wants a cuddle.   then i get up and move back to our bed, only to have to pee again in an hour.  typically i get 2-3 hours at a time with anywhere from 1-2 hours of awake time in between.   it sucks!!!!!!!!!!!    sunday night before our ultrasound probably 4 total hours of sleep.

add a snoring hubby to the mix, a house that is never the "right" temp for my sleep needs and it is a long night!

  • QOTD:  How are you sleeping?  Now that bellies are starting to really make themselves known are you having troubles getting comfortable?

I'm still sleeping very well actually, though I've had some off nights here & there. My only problem is that I still find it comfortable for me to be on my back sometimes, so I have to force myself to lay on my side! So funny that after years of training myself to sleep on my back to avoid wrinkles (supposedly a tip from Jackie O) I'm having to retrain myself to sleep on my side. I am considering getting a Snoogle soon, I'm just procrastinating on spending the money.

  • My biggest sleep issue is the constant bathroom breaks! My body seems to be on a clock waking up at 1230, 330, and 630. I do drink a lot of water through the day, but since not many mentioned this Im wondering if I should mention this to doc! I dont have much of a problem falling back to sllep, so I dont wake up too tired. Im getting used to the side sleeping now, although I'm halfway on my stomach still.
  • Honestly I'm sleeping like crap.  Having to get up to pee is always a joy in the dark.  I'm a stomach sleeper, so I'm trying to readjust to sleeping on my side and it's not going so well.  With my back condition I'm constantly waking up to whichever leg is on the bottom throbing and having to roll over.  I'll sleep again someday!
  • I'm team blue!  Still sleeping ok....maybe tossing and turning a bit more, but nothing that's too terrible.
  • I bought a snoogle about a month and a half or so ago, since then I have been sleeping pretty well. I have only been waking up to pee and then I usually just roll over. I am almost immediately super comfy.

  • Add me to Team Blue...

I am not sleeping well. Last night I was up most of the night with a horrible headache. I'm a back sleeper and even though I make myself fall asleep on my back, I wake up several times a night to pee and find myself on my back.

  • QOTD: Ugh, I dread going to bed at night (as weird as that sounds) because I can't get comfortable and spend the whole night tossing and turning.  I'm so close to dropping the $70 on a Snoogle in hopes that it helps!

Oh, BTW add me to Team Green!!

  • I have been having trouble sleeping most of my pregnancy and it is no good- between getting up to pee every few hours or hourly depending on the night then trying to fall back asleep listening to DH snore and getting comfortable between the growing belly and the again sensitive breasts sleeping just hasnt been really good for me recently.  To top it off I have had a cold since Friday night and have been coughing most of the night too!!  Ugh...I guess I am just preparing myself for a newborn and all of the sleep I will be missing out on when LO comes.

  • I am sleeping like crap! I even have one of those All-Nighter body pillows.

My doctor just told me that the baby is "training me in advance".
