wrong to bring baked goods for L&D nurses?

I was thinking of making some homemade cookies to bring with me to L&D for the nurses station (since I'm sch'd to go in I can make them the night before)

It would probably be really good "busy work" for me Thurs night and I love to bake...but is this kissing up too much?

  • Actually my friend who is a nurse in L& D says that one dad brought in pizza for nurses and they LOVED IT!  I am sure anything you bring in would be appreciated but not expected at all.  Is just a very thoughtful gesture..

  • Nope!  They'll love you.  :)
  • If I end up being induced or a scheduled c-section, I'm going to bring in these bad boys.

  • I can assure you that the nurses in L&D will love you for it. I plan on having someone pick up Cold Stone Cupcakes to celebrate LO arrival. Oh and don't forget the office staff at ur OB they love stuff too Wink

  • Nurses love free food. It's way better than flowers.

  • I brought our nurses some chocolate chip cookies that I made.

I used organic flour and was very careful not to get any ingredients with nuts/etc.

  • I'm planning to put a small basket and several bags of snickers mini's in my hospital bag.  I figured having a bunch of chocolate for them to pick at would be a nice gesture...plus I don't have to do any work :)

  • I think they would love it!
  • we are taking See's Candies. ?We were going to bake cookies, but my Doula said not to bake anything, since the nurses don't know you. ?It should be store bought, or ordered in, such as pizza.

  • As an RN, I can tell you...bring it in!  :)  I am definitely doing this for when I go in to have the baby.  They will love it...and it will probably get you a little extra TLC/leeway (right or wrong).  Just being honest.
  • I've read on here that a lot of nurses prefer that if you bring something in - it be in a package from a store. Not all but some won't eat homemade things. Just something to think about...
  • Definitely not. ?I will being doing the same, but for the postpartum nurses and my L&D nurse since you really only have interaction with one or 2 L&D nurses(depending how long you are there) and get more help(with BF, teaching re:baby and self cares) more from PP nurses especially if your baby goes to the nursery at night. ?I'm a PP nurse and we love when patients bring us treats. ?We definitely appreciate it!?
  • We love goodies--it's not a "kissing up" thing at all :-)
