11 Months - Still eating purees

DS is 11 months and still will only eat Stage 2 purees or Stage 3 that are totally creamy (veg or fruit or Beechnut jar cereal), anything with the least bit of chunks or pieces he refuses. I try over and over. At first he forced himself to throw up, now he will tolerate 4-5 spoons and then pushes it away and I have to give him something else. Anyone else have this problem?  He loves his Graduates finger foods and anything he can control in his hand but refushes anything mushy (noodles) or that he can not pick up himself (nothing on a spoon). Any ideas?? I am going broke with all the jar food (5 jars a day!!).

Re: 11 Months - Still eating purees

  • We had this problem wtih DS when he was around that age. He got really picky once we started on stage 3 and they were chunky. We stopped giving it to him and gave him more finger foods. This is when we also introduced yogurt, regular applesauce, etc. Things that were more toddler-ish but still the consistency he was used to. Seemed to help. But he hated all those chunky stage 3 foods. Good luck.

Anyway, we've having the same problem and DS will be a year old in less than 2 weeks. DS eats Stage 2 purees. We've tried finger foods and the only things he likes are fruit in his mesh feeder, puffs and broken up pieces of waffles or pancakes. He refuses juice, which I guess isn't all that bad since its sugary anyway. His pedi. isn't concerned about it, said it just takes some babies long to make the transition from purees and we can talk about it at his 12 month apt.
