Backstory about my family. My father owns a mechanic shop, my brother is a autoshop manager, my grandfather owned 5 tireshops/small auto repair shop, my uncles are also in the business.
Backstory about my car. My car started over heating a few weeks back. My dad looked at it and said it was low on coolant. We put coolant in and I drove it until yesterday when it overheated again.
Fast forward to today. The cardealership called and said my raidator is full of trash causing the car to over heat. They are wanting to do XYZ that is not covered under my warrenty. I called my dad and my dad said their is no way that trash is causing my car troubles. I called the cardealership back and told them what I thought was wrong with it. He laughed and rattled off a bunch of crap. I then told him that my father and brother both are mechanics and I know for a fact the waterpump is either out or going out. He changed his tune real quick. He hung up, just called me back and said the test showed a small crack in the pump.
They thought they were going to get more money out of me, but they were way wrong.
Re: Apparently my cardealership has no idea who they are dealing with.
Us too. If my car wasn't under warrenty my brother or dad's shop would be doing the work.
I love the fact that my husband is a mechanic. Other than the fact that my car comes last, but oh well
Not the same but along similar lines of sex discrimation. J had me call to the lumber yard one day for prices. I did, and gave him the numbers. He said that seemed to be way much higher than he was expecting so he said he would call. I sat right next to him while he was saying the exact same things I were. The cost...significantly less.
