Aubrey started out with Zantac and Reglan. I quickly dropped the Reglan due to all the possible side effects. Eventually the Zantac wasn't strong enough. Now she's on Prevacid. We also had to switch formulas a few times too. It's really like rolling dice to figure what works best for each baby. Good luck!
They all had it a tad while in the NICU, they raised the head of their isolettes. Once home only Lily still had trouble with it, we tried meds but it didn't help all that much. We found if we changed her before feeding and kept jostling her about after a feeding to a min. plus burped her 3 times during a bottle and then kept her upright for about an hour after eating she did a lot better. By about 10 1/2 months she pretty much had grown out of it and we stopped burping her.

Robbie's been on: Zantac, pepcid, prevacid and now nexium.
He started on Zantac which did nothing, then shortly thereafter found out that he was born with an incomplete diaphragm which caused a hiatal hernia (stomach protrudes into the esophogus) and has had surgery twice. He has awful reflux.
Gunner has reflux, we have tried all the non-medical things. He has a small dose of zantac 2x's a day. It helps most of the time, we only have a few projectiles a week.
Yes, DS is on prevacid 15mg twice a day. His arching and crying and squirming and refusal to eat is what prompted this. He was in definite pain and needed something to reduce the stomach acid with all of the spit-ups.
DS came home from the hospital on Reglan and Prevacid. We used it for about 4 months, but weened him off b/c he had developed a leg tremor that was a side effect of the Reglan. It freaked me out, so instead of using the meds, we decided to try thickening his formula with rice cereal. At that point (4 months) the cereal worked just as well as the meds.
DD left the hospital without meds. We thought she was just a "spitter" She didn't seem like she was in pain and was eating. When she was about 3 months old, she stopped eating and would cry in pain. The dr put her on prevacid and she was like a completely different baby.

A week after DD was home from the NICU, she had a choking incident and stopped breathing. At her overnight in Children's they diagnosed her with GE reflux. For several weeks we had so many choking incidents with her reflux that I really started to worry. Pedi said to just keep an eye on her for a while. About 3 weeks ago, they became so bad that she was finally put on Prilosec. Seems like that's helped the episodes become more infrequent and she can handle them much better now.
