late ovulation...how far along am I?

Has anyone every had experience with late ovulation? Does it effect how far along you are? I know you count from the fist day of your last period.... but I O'd on CD 22... a week later than normal/average person. (My cycles are 31 days)The Dr. knows the date of my last period and calculated from that, but I never mentioned about my ovulation date being late.

B/c I've had 2 previous m/c I'm high risk and am going for an ultrasound on Thurs and I will be 5wks 6 days. I don't want to go to the ultrasound thinking I'm almost 6wks along and hoping to hear a heartbeat and then not hear one and only see a sac and thinking I'm having another m/c or something when I might only be 5 wks along.

TIA!

  • Yes, it effects how far along you are.  If you know your O date, find a calculator that figures out your due date based on that.  If you use FF, it figures it out based on O date.

  • Why don't you go on a reputable site like WebMD and do a DDcalulator based on o date. They def have one. See what date it gives you and def mention your late o to your dr next time. GL :)

on that site you can tell it to base it off your conception date instead of your lmp.

  • If you're 5w 6 d by the first day of your last period but you O'ed on CD 22 then you're really 5 w 0 d.

someone correct me if my math is wrong!

  • You are a week behind your LMP date. I ovulate late too and that was the case with this PG. Baby is right on track with my O date.

  • As long as you know, then don't freak. You will see a sac and hopefully a baby. You won't hear a heartbeat and you might not even see one that early, or it JUST started beating (it starts around 6 weeks). So as long as you know what to expect it should be fine. Then they will adjust your due date when they measure the baby. Also I would tell them that you Oed late, they might bump you up a few days to make sure they see the heartbeat.
  • They will change your due date at this 1st US because if you are a week or more off they change it. You know that you O'ed a week later so bring that up and maybe even call your OB and ask to wait another week for your US so that you don't freak out when you only see a sac. At 5 weeks you will not see anything but a sac. The fetal pole is usually seen at 5 1/2 weeks and the hb at 6. Also the day you O and the day you implant could be a difference of a few days so really you may be less than 5 weeks now. For example, I ovulated on cd 15 but didn't implant for 3 more days and had 4 US to date and they were always 3 days off. GL
  • Thanks everyone!!
