How long does teething fussiness last?

We have been in hell for about 2 weeks now.  DD has been cutting 4 teeth on top.  The first 3 are pretty much through and now I see a 4th.  Her fussiness hasn't let up yet.  She doesn't respond much to the teething tablets (I though these were supposed to be great??) and Tylenol sometimes helps but not always.  She is glued to me 24/7 and still whines even when I give her undivided attention.  I feel so bad for her (and me).

And here's the kicker....when she is with anyone but me she's fine!  I heard that they are harder on the mom usually but why would her symptoms go away with others when she isn't feeling well.  Anyone's LO do this?

Re: How long does teething fussiness last?

  • It lasts forever, at least that's what it feels like for us!  I have learned not to get my hopes up for the teething to end and be over the fussiness, because there is always something else going on.  She probably is fine for others because she is distracted by new people or people she is not around often, this is how it is with DD.

  • Oh my goodness thank you for posting this. I thought I was losing my mind! We've been going through this for 5 days now, and I left yesterday and came back to the happiest baby I've seen in awhile- DH thought I was crazy too!
  • We're going through the same thing.  It looks like his top 4 teeth will be coming in soon.  Possibly 2 more on the bottom.  He is so clingy.  I think it might be a combo of teething and seperation anxiety - getting him to sleep has been a nightmare.  I hope it ends soon!
