I know this has been posted before but the search on this board is terrible.
We are flying from CA to Chicago on Friday with DD who is almost 10 months old. Any tips and tricks for getting through the flight? We leave at like 1pm which is around her nap time and we are going to try and keep her on CA time for the days we are there (we come home Monday). DD is a very good baby but she's also very mobile and I'm worried about her getting upset because we have to hold her the whole time. Any advice?
Also, DD will be in the hotel room in a crib with us but for 2 nights she has a babysitter and I am trying to determine the least disruptive thing DH and I can do when we get back to the room both evenings. Do I just need to deal with the fact that DD will be disrupted and go with the flow? I don't think our room will be big enough to keep her separated at all.
Re: Getting nervous/anxious about traveling-any tips
Funny- we just got back from a trip out to California (we live in Chicago). We got our son a seat on the plane though- I'm not sure he would've been okay with us holding him.
For the flight- we had quite a few toys for him to play with, a DVD player as a last resort. You can also ask the flight attendant for some cups- DS liked playing with those.
In our hotel room, we got an extra bedsheet from housekeeping and put that down on the floor so he could play on the ground. We also had diapers and other stuff shipped to the hotel- and the great part was that he LOVED playing with the boxes.
It was definitely tough having him sleep in a crib in the same room as us- we brought a travel white noise machine and I think that helped a ton. You can also try clipping up sheets around the crib so that she can't see out. For the nights that we hung out in the hotel room (there were a few where he slept in the stroller for a bit while we were out), we watched some TV and had takeout dinner while he slept- he had no problems bc of the white noise.
Good luck!
Also, have you seen this website- lots of great advice!

And she has a recent list of things to do in Chicago w/ kids.
DS didn't want to nurse on one of the takeoffs- so we gave him puffs to chew & swallow and also little sips of water- this helped his ears.
