So, I told one of my good friends our news about the bfp, we had taken a first response digital hpt, and I was telling him how my first appt isn't till 10/13 and how we're tellign our parents tonight and he's like "What if you're not pregnant" and he keeps questioning it, thinking that what if the test is wrong or something.
Isn't it very rare to get a false positive? I've heard false Negatives are common at times, but not fp's. Now he's making me doubt it. I was due for my period around August 26th, and took the test yesterday the 30th. I've never been late for my period before, only early. Should I be getting some other confirmation? I still have one test left, so maybe I'll use it I guess, but I didn't think it was nessesary. I've never had kids before, never been pg before so its not like I'd have any of the hormone's left over in me or something like that.
So frustrating!
Re: Mood Killers!
A positive HPT after a missed period is pretty definitive! Congratulations!!
Besides, the blood test a lab does is the exact same test has a HPT, except they use serum from your blood instead of urine.

Don't let your friend get to you. Is he speaking from some sort of experience? If not, he's just a jerk. Enjoy your first weeks and don't worry.
For what it's worth, I called my dr today and said we got a positive on *four* tests (the first two were light, so we tested again the next day) and she didn't even question it or suggest we get immediate b/w to confirm. She said "we'll see you at 10 weeks!"
My symptoms are sore boobs which i usually get around my period, and other period like symptoms such as cramps. A bit of nausea after I eat sometimes. Nothing too crazy.
Thanks for your opinions guys, I'll be putting him in his place if he questions me again!
My grandmother did the same thing to me when I told her the 24th. Two days ago I talked to her again and she asks "So did you get your period yet?" Ummm no because I'm pregnant. Geez, glad you're excited grandma.
I called my OB because she made me paranoid. Rarely do you get a false positive. They didn't question it, just made an appt for 8 weeks.
