3rd Trimester

Any 33+ weekers with breech babies?

So the OB said I have until 36 weeks for the baby to turn, but that leaves me with 3 weeks left.  She has been breech for 2 weeks now, both weeks confirmed by 3D/4D U/S.  Is there anyone else out there?  Are you doing to help baby to turn?  If so, what?  Anyone already been through this, care to share your experience?

Re: Any 33+ weekers with breech babies?

  • My baby's been breech since 29 weeks. I've tried certain exercises and stretches but they haven't worked. I also tried playing music down by my belly to try to lure her to turn and that hasn't worked either. I have an external version scheduled for tomorrow morning. If that doesn't work, I'll be scheduled for a c-section at 39 weeks. Good luck!

  • Mine was transverse off and on until 37 weeks. ?Sometimes they just need to get a little more top heavy so that they turn. ?Waking is really good to do and crawling on your hands and knees. ?I have also been seeing a chiropractor.

  • My baby's transverse (based on my 3d u/s last week).  I have another u/s scheduled for Wednesday to see if he/she has turned at all.  My dr. also gave me till 36 weeks for the baby to get in the right position before we start talking about a c-section......

  • Mine's been breech most of the time with a few days here and there being vertex.  It was breech on Wednesday and I think it still is @ 35 weeks.  I go back on Friday for another u/s and if it's still breech, I'm going to schedule an external version for 37 weeks.  I'll do just about anything to avoid a c-section.

Check out spinningbabies.com, they have lots of good techniques for getting them to turn.  Just wish there was a way to keep them turned, that's been our issue!

  • Mine was head down the whole pregnancy until this week. We THINK it turned last night but we can't be sure. I have an ultrasound in a week and a half to monitor the situation :) GOOD LUCK!
  • Mine was breech a week and a half ago. I go in Thursday (at 33 weeks and 5 days) for another u/s.

OB said he wouldn't worry about it until 35 weeks and he wouldn't try to turn the baby until 37 weeks.

However, if the baby is still breech this week, I am going to a chiropractor who does Webster the week after.

  • We have been breech for quite awhile too :( i have an u/s on tuesday to see the size and how is positioned (he was measuring HUGE at 30wks)  Dr is giving him until 36wks too then external version..she thinks he will turn on his own and says none of the tricks work..boo.  ds1 was breech until 36 and then flipped so it is possible!!  good luck!!
  • I wouldn't worry too much - my DD actually flipped between 36-37 weeks on her own.  I know a lot of people say chiropractic treatment or other methods worked for them tho.
  • I think mine was. I was good at the 34 week appt. The dr. said he really starts to think anything until 36 or 37 week though.

  • I've tried elevating the hips, and moxibustion.  We had a version scheduled for last week, but then decided against it.  So at this point, I'm at 38 weeks and have a c-section scheduled at 39 weeks since baby has no interest in turning.  I'm bummed but do not want to obsess about it and am trying to focus on having a healthy baby.
  • It was discovered at 33 weeks that my baby is frank breech.  I decided not to try the external cephalic version.  I am 37 weeks now and she still hasn't budged.  If she doesn't turn on her own, we have a c-section scheduled on 9/16.
