My mom and I went out yesterday to look for some maternity clothes. I have a lot of dresses and work clothes from Maggie but I need some casual items to fill in, and man, the selection is awful. I always had good luck at Gap, and this time I saw nothing. I hate Motherhood with every fiber of my being but we even went there and no dice. Target had zilch also. I guess I need to make a trip to the Gap Outlet.
I have no idea what I wore in early-mid pregnancy last time, but I have to find a couple things that fit to limp along to the full panel glory of the third trimester.
Anyone have suggestions for where else I should look for clothes?
Ready to rumble.
Re: I'd like to whine about maternity clothes.
JCP has some decent stuff, but be forewarned they have been switching their maternity clothes to only being available online so you may not see much in the store (ditto for sears). Depending on what size you are, I've got some jeans and slacks that I can give you.
I've had awesome luck with the perfect tee's from Old Navy. I'm nearly at the end and still wearing (mostly) non-maternity shirts--they're not as long as they used to be, but they still fit/look good.

I hate maternity clothes, I really do. I cannot wait to stop wearing them. And I do not understand why all of these stores are making maternity online only -- that's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. I know Old Navy is going that route and it seems like Kohl's is, too. Of all the maternity clothes I have, I like the stuff from JCP and Kohl's the best, although I was able to find a couple cute things this year from Target. Maybe try visiting a different Target store? They do seem a little more "with it" than some of the other places. I feel your pain, it is no fun.

Let me know when you figure it out. I'm still fitting into my suits, but I don't know what I'll do in a few months. I've found one maternity suit on-line at a Pea in the Pod. It costs over $300....I don't think so.
I think I'm going to resort to buying a couple very large suits and having my tailor fit them to my body. It's truly my only option. It will still be cheaper than the one maternity suit I've found.
Why hasn't the fashion industry realized the cash cow that is maternity clothes? Why are so many of them really tacky? It is impossible to find simple, classy clothes to wear. It's like you're supposed to turn into this total dorky frump when you're pregnant. It's insulting.

I totally, 100% agree with this. It's not as if women are going to stop having babies. Why make it so hard?

Ditto this. It made me nuts too. I did most of my Motherhood shopping online because of that. I loved their secret fit belly jeans and pants later in my pregnancy. No tugging or pulling on them. I found good stuff at JC Penney, and JCP.com. I was at the Gap outlet in KY a few weeks ago, and the maternity section is overflowing with good stuff. I was so tempted to buy ahead for the next pg, but DH talked me down. It is worth the trip.
