So I am 7dpo right now and am leaving on Sunday for a week at the beach with in-laws and some other relatives. I am thinking I will test on Sunday a.m. before we leave which would be 9dpo, but am not expecting much since it is so early. With my last pg, I started getting sick at about 11-12 dpo, so I probably couldn't necessarily wait until I was "late" either without knowing. The big thing is that when we get together with this family at the beach there is often regular drinking of margaritas and beers at all meals, so it would be SO obvious to them if I didn't drink at all. I'm not one to abstain from alcohol until my test is actually positive, so if I was drinking for the first few days of the trip then suddenly stopped, that would be SO obvious too. They watch me closely too (kind of annoying), so I couldn't just pretend to take a sip and then dump it out.
This isn't a huge deal, and obviously I will not be drinking if I find out that I am pg, but just curious how to somewhat conceal it from the family so I don't have to tell anyone? I just don't want to announce it to extended family before I have even hit the 4 week mark and really would prefer to wait a little longer. It is important to me to get to celebrate privately with my husband first before telling extended family and also I would like to tell my parents before or at the same time as the in-laws so they don't feel left out. Of course, with all this worrying I probably won't even get pg this month! Just curious what you would do if you were in my shoes. Oh and here is my chart, I think it is looking good this month!. Thanks!
Re: Hmm, testing over vacation?
huh? I would just not test - do it when you get back. I'm confused, though. Your siggy says you're due May 20. Did I read that wrong?
ETA - that was last year. Sorry!
This, but I would try to at least limit my drinking until AF comes, it it does. Can you sip one drink for a long time without anyone giving you the side-eye?
that's too early to test and if you get a bfn you will be wondering if it's wrong. just drink what you want and test when you get home.
plus you can always order virgin drinks when they aren't around and then just say i'll have another and they won't know the difference.
